Rough ground./meadow not flat lawn

Hello Mark,
I heard about you from a good friend and lawn mower nerd, Chris. I am looking for a tough mowing machine that will cut through thick fibrous wild grasses in a meadow. The ground is not smooth like the lawns on your web site and the plant growth is far from uniform. Once or twice per year we cut it all back with a slimmer or scythe and then mow it. A heavy duty petrol driven machine gets through it but I would prefer an electric option if there were something solid enough to handle the tough stems. For this kind of job what would you recommend?

Hi

For the kind of tough meadow work you're describing with thick fibrous wild grasses and uneven ground, electric mowers generally aren't robust enough for that application. Most of my experience and recommendations focus on conventional lawn care for relatively uniform, maintained grass areas.

The heavy-duty petrol driven machine you're already using is likely the most appropriate tool for such challenging terrain and vegetation. For meadow management with tough stems on uneven ground, petrol-powered brush cutters or specialised meadow mowers are typically the most reliable options.

Sorry I can't help.
Mark
