Have a medium/large sized garden SW London – which corded mower is best?

I was looking at bosch or the lawnmaster. I had a bosch before but it broke after 5 years. I am a 70y old woman, looking for something fairly easy. Thanks.

Hi, for a medium/large garden in SW London, I'd actually recommend going cordless instead of corded - much easier for larger spaces!

Top suggestions:

LawnMaster cordless mowers - great value with good battery life
WORX cordless models - reliable with innovative features

Why cordless is better for your size garden:

No cord length restrictions
Better manoeuvrability around obstacles
No risk of cutting the cord
Quieter operation

For your garden size, look for models with 37cm+ cutting width and 35+ minute battery life.

I'd recommend using my mower selection tool on the link below, simply put in your requirements and best suited mowers will be shortlisted.

Hope this helps

Hi Mark, thanks so much for your detailed response. My only concern with the cordless, is that if I forget to charge the battery, the mower will stop half way through cutting. I've had similar problems with my Dyson hoover cordless, sometimes it just cuts out. The corded seems to retain its power much more/no hassle to recharge the batteries. But agreed the risk of cutting the cord is always there (I did do that once or twice with my last corded mower). The only alternative was Petrol, but the maintenance there seems tough, especially if going 6 weeks at a time without a cut during the winter months.

I completely understand your concern — running out of charge halfway through can be frustrating, especially if you’re used to the consistency of a corded mower. A couple of points that might help:Spare batteries: Many cordless mowers (including LawnMaster and WORX) come with two batteries, or you can buy an extra one. That way, you can keep one charging while you mow with the other.Battery life vs. garden size: If your garden takes around 30–40 minutes to mow, a mower with a 4.0Ah+ battery should comfortably get you through in one go.In short: if you’d prefer no charging worries at all, a corded mower is still perfectly fine. But if you’d like something lighter and easier to move around, a cordless with a spare battery could give you the best of both worlds.
