buying a robotic lawn mower for a simple rectangular lawn ( with a couple of posts in the middle )
GPS version ( not wires ) that cuts to the edge . Something relatively basic between £300 to £700

Finding a GPS/RTK robotic mower (no perimeter wire required) in the £300–£700 price range can be challenging, as most models with this technology tend to be more expensive unless you’re looking at the used market. Of the options currently available, the ECOVACS robotic mowers are probably the best value for money in this category. While I haven’t personally tested one yet, I do plan to review them soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Another option you might consider is a vision-guided robotic mower. For a simple rectangular lawn, these can work quite well and are sometimes more affordable than RTK-based models.

It’s also worth noting that no robotic mower will cut right up to the edge unless your lawn’s edge is level with a hard surface (like paving or a path), allowing the mower to slightly overhang. Otherwise, you’ll usually need to tidy up the very edge with a trimmer.
