Most robotic lawn mowers run on rechargeable batteries and use a charging station that’s plugged into the mains. The mower automatically returns to this station when it needs to recharge.

Some models include small solar panels, but these usually only help top up the battery—they don’t provide enough power for full operation. So even solar-assisted mowers still need a mains-powered charging station as their primary energy source.
