Is the YUKA MINI 800 the right choice for me?

Is the YUKA MINI 800 the right choice for me?

I have 2 separate lawns 1 front and 1 back separated by a paved driveway and patio. Between the driveway and patio is a gate which is normally closed and locked but when at home I can always open it when needed. The back lawn is two steps down from the patio. Both lawns have a positive boundary to suit my current robot mower which is a Drop & Go from Cleva. It is a 3 wheel mower and does not cut close to the edges leaving 8 to 10 inches all round. I could put say 8″ wide pavers round the edge but I think it will then see the edge of the paver and still leave a wide border to strim. I am thinking if I put paving around (level with lawn) that a 4 wheel mower with edge cutting would cut more or less to the edge. Unfortunately I cannot find a 4 wheel Drop and Go. If I buy a YUKA MINI 800 would I need to build a ramp up from the back lawn and then make sure the gate is open when it needs to mow the front lawn or could I simply pick it up from its charger and carry it to the front then return it by hand to the back lawn?

While manually moving the YUKA MINI 800 between your front and back lawns would technically work, I should clarify some important points:

Long-Term Solution Considerations
The YUKA MINI 800 is not truly a "drop and go" mower like your current Cleva Ocumow 16/18 model. For optimal performance and the intended autonomous operation:

It would be better to create a proper navigation path between your lawns
Building a gentle ramp to overcome the two steps from the back lawn to the patio would be recommended
Ensuring the gate between areas can be navigated by the mower (either left open during mowing times or with a modified setup)

Edge Cutting and Pavers
Your idea about the pavers is excellent:

Installing pavers that are level with the lawn would significantly improve edge cutting
You could indeed map the mower to travel half over the lawn and half over the pavers
This approach would effectively eliminate the need for edge trimming
The YUKA's 4-wheel design will perform much better at edges than your current 3-wheel model

Autonomous Operation Benefits
Setting up for full autonomous navigation between zones will:

Reduce your manual intervention over time
Allow for more consistent mowing schedules
Maximize the smart navigation features of the YUKA

While the manual transport method would work as a temporary solution, investing in proper navigation paths between your lawn areas would better leverage the YUKA MINI's autonomous GPS/RTK and Camera guidance capabilities for years to come.

Thank you Mark for your great and quick response. I’ll deal with the edging slabs and the possibility of a ramp before investing in the more sophisticated mower as both my lawns are not large.

Hi Mark, Following further review especially ramp consideration I am now looking at the LUBA 800 AWD instead of the YUKA 800 which has thrown up a further question. Why does the YUKA 800 have a 6.1Ah Battery but the LUBA 800 only has 4.5Ah battery? As they are from the same manufacturer I guess there must be a good reason.

Hi yes you are correct the YUKA Mini 800 has a larger 6.1Ah battery and will therefore mow more on a single charge. Just remember that the charge time is 230mins vs 160mins. Not sure why the YUKA has this configuration.
