Key differences for me btw YUKA Mini 800 (£649 in UK) and LUBA Mini 800 AWD (£999 in UK)?

Hi Mark, I live in a semi-detached house in London with a rear lawn that I think is approx. 700 sq. meters and a much smaller front law (might be 25 sq. meters). There is a small slope on the rear lawn, a few trees, a few contained patches of daffodils/crocuses at this time of year, and some occasional dog poo (if no one has picked it up. I’m looking to buy my first robot mower. I dont want to have to install perimeter wire. There are flower beds / a raised bed on either side of the rear lawn and if I’m investing in a robot mower then I dont want to have to do any edging myself. I read your reviews and am open to all brands but Mammotion seemed like the best balance between tech and price. If you recommend Mammotion to me, can you tell me what you think the extra £350 between the YUKA Mini 800 and the Luba Mini 800 gets me? I can afford the difference between them, I just cant work out what the benefit of the LUBA Mini 800 is over the YUKA Mini 800. Are there any other robot mowers you would suggest I consider? Many, many thanks!

Hi! Based on your lawn size and requirements, the Mammotion YUKA Mini and LUBA Mini would be fantastic choices for your first robot mower. I actually use the LUBA Mini myself, and it has been excellent for handling varied terrain without the need for a perimeter wire.

Both models are currently on a special offer, which makes them a very compelling choice right now. To answer your question about the price difference: the main distinction is that the LUBA Mini features 4WD, whereas the YUKA Mini is 2WD. Given that you have a slope and some trees to navigate, the 4WD on the LUBA provides much better traction and stability, ensuring it doesn't get stuck on uneven ground.

Regarding your concern about edging, there is a new Luba 2 Mini that features an offset separate blade specifically for edge trimming. However, this will cost you an extra £400. My honest advice is that regardless of the model or brand you choose, there will always be some manual trimming required around the very edges and tight corners of a garden. It is rarely 100% "set and forget" for the borders.

Both Mammotion models use advanced RTK and Vision technology to avoid obstacles like your flower beds and trees. While they are great at obstacle avoidance, I’d still recommend a quick "poo patrol" for the dog mess to keep the sensors and underside clean!

Given the current deals, the LUBA Mini is my top recommendation for the extra power and grip, you will not be disappointed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
