Luba 1 vs Yuka

Luba 1 vs Yuka

Lawnmower Question Selection Tool

Hi Mark, I have an early Luba 1, and a 400m2 garden with Trees and only very small slopes. The Luba 1 has been great with two exceptions – loosing satellite under trees and scuffing up the lawn in tight spaces and the tank turn when returning to charge. The Yuka seems like a good choice. Can you confirm:
1) that the Yuka cuts as well as the Luba?
2) is the Yuka as quiet as the Luba? – listening to your video it sounds a little noisier
3) does the Yuka eliminate the scuffing completely as it has RWD and a jockey wheel.
4) with the smaller cutting width but wider wheel track mean the Yuka cannot get as close to lawn edging as the Luba?

Another question – does the Luba 2 eliminate the grass scuffing or is this still a problem?
Many thanks,
Great reviews by the way.
Steve

Hi Steve

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

1) that the Yuka cuts as well as the Luba? Cut quality is the same.
2) is the Yuka as quiet as the Luba? – listening to your video it sounds a little noisier - Yes the Yuka is very slightly more noisy than the Luba (without the collector fitted)
3) does the Yuka eliminate the scuffing completely as it has RWD and a jockey wheel. - I have not noticed any scuffing on my lawn with the Yuka thanks to the castor wheel
4) with the smaller cutting width but wider wheel track mean the Yuka cannot get as close to lawn edging as the Luba? - Yes, the Yuka does seem to leave a slightly larger strip of uncut lawn, where I have a drop, unless the boundary is level and can overlap.

does the Luba 2 eliminate the grass scuffing or is this still a problem? - Does your Luba 1 have omni wheels? mine does not, so yes the Luba 2 does not scuff as much as the Luba 1. I have my Luba 2 cut a small separate lawn with very tight turns, and yes it still scuffs particularly when the lawn is wet. On the larger lawn, there is no scuffing. (Charge station on path).

If scuffing is a concern, you could place the Luba 2 on a path as I have done. I have absolutely no scuffing as the Luba turns on the path, then reverses onto the docking station.

Have you considered moving the RTK station, perhaps higher up? The added camera on the Luba 2 does indeed resolve the loss of satellite reception issue, as this is what was happening with the Luba 1 on my neighbours lawn.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks for the response. My Luba 1 is one of the original Kickstarter Luba with 4 omni wheels ( all the same ). Thanks for the feedback re noise and boundary space. I mistakenly rated your response as -1 - it should have been the highest score - apologies. Steve
