Luba Mini 2 AWD choice with no 4G

I’ve been watching your superb reviews on YouTube. They’re really helpful.
I have 3 lawns totalling +/- 300 sqm , all with small areas of slope varying from 24° to 29° so have decided on the Luba Mini 2 AWD. Lawn 3 (one of two 50 sqm front lawns) is raised with 5 steep steps to access it, so I need the drop and mow function. I have no 4G coverage at my house but do have WiFi at my planned spot to place my base station near the 200 sqm back lawn and part of lawn 2 at the front. The Mini 2 1000 fits best for size but, after watching the Yuka 1000 video, the 1500 with its LiDAR system seems my best option due to the connectivity and 4G issue. What would be your recommendation?

For your 300sqm lawn with those steep slopes, you have two main options to handle the connectivity issues:

1. Extend your Wi-Fi: If you stick with the LUBA 4WD, I recommend extending your Wi-Fi using an external access point. I have done this on my own property, both front and back, and it is a very effective solution for maintaining a connection.

2. LiDAR Version: There is a LiDAR version of the LUBA Mini 2 available, which I will be reviewing shortly (I plan to turn off my Wi-Fi to test its navigation specifically). Keep in mind that LiDAR works best when there are plenty of reference points, such as tree trunks or other obstacles, to help the mower determine its location. However, this model is designed for lawns up to 1500m2, which is massive overkill for your area and comes at a significant extra cost.

Given the size of your lawn, extending your Wi-Fi is likely the most cost-effective way, if you can do it yourself, to get the LUBA Mini 2 AWD working perfectly.

Alternatively you could take a look at the WORX Vision Cloud 4WD as only the charging station needs to be in a wi-fi signal, not the entire lawn, you can see my review of this mower here, the only issue is that this mower doesn't have drop and mow feature, link here https://easylawnmowing.co.uk/worx-landroid-vision-cloud-4wd-review/

Thanks for your speedy response on a Sunday morning 😉. I've been looking into the WiFi access point as suggested. I think I could get this done for a lot less than the difference in cost of the AWD 1000 and 1500 and get the benefit of the extra coverage. I may get away with just 1 on the side of my bungalow if placed at the apex. My Electrician should be able to advise on this. Unlike your good self, he isn’t available on a Sunday 😉 The Worx is ruled out on the drop & mow issue. I eagerly await your review of the Mini 2 AWD LiDAR Thanks again and best regards, Scott

Hi Mark, thank you for your speedy response on a Sunday morning 😉 I’ve been looking into the access point suggestion and think I could get away with just one at the apex of the side of my bungalow, halfway between lawn 1 and 2 and directly above the access channel. I only need a 40m radius coverage so I’m looking at the TP-link AC1200 EAP (any suggestions?). Coming in significantly less than the difference between the 1000awd and the 1500LiDAR. I’ll confirm this with my electrician and then do it myself. The Worx is a non starter because it doesn’t have drop & mow. I eagerly look forward to your 1500 review. Kindest regards Scott

Thanks for the update, Scott! That sounds like a solid plan for the Wi-Fi coverage. Just to let you know, my review of the 1500 is now complete and you can see it in action here: https://easylawnmowing.co.uk/luba-mini-2-awd-lidar/ Thank you again for the update! Mark
