Phone signal needed?

0

Hello, do the machines without boundary wire need a good phone signal to operate? I ask as my garden has very little coverage for my mobile and at present little WiFi coverage.

Hi, no, the mower doesn't need WiFi or 4G signal to operate.

These wireless boundary mowers (like the Luba models) use RTK GPS and their reference station for navigation, which works independently of your phone signal or WiFi. The mower will continue to operate, navigate, and mow your lawn perfectly fine without any internet connection.

However, here's what you'll lose without WiFi or 4G:

Remote control - You won't be able to start, stop, or adjust settings from your phone when you're away
Remote monitoring - You can't check the mower's status, progress, or receive notifications remotely
Over-the-air updates - Software updates would need to be done when the mower is within WiFi range

You can still:

Control the mower directly via the onboard controls or app when you're standing near it with Bluetooth
Set up schedules and zones beforehand
Let it run its programmed mowing schedule automatically

If remote monitoring is important to you, you might consider extending your WiFi coverage to the garden with an outdoor WiFi extender or mesh system - this is often a simpler solution than relying on mobile signal.

Hope this helps!
Mark
