Small garden – help needed

Small garden – help needed

0

Good evening Mark,

I’ve just come across your website for the first time. Thank you for providing this fabulous one stop shop of information.

So, I live in London and have a garden (grass area) of approx 69 sq/m.
Both myself and my wife works so I’ve been temped to go the artificial route.

But – natural grass and a sensible robot would be more cost effective.
What kind of robot would you suggest for such a small lawn?
Ideally I’d like something that could cut close to the edge, so I can have a nice boarded/edge. And to minimise work for myself.

But open to suggestions.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards.
Paul

Hi Paul,Great to hear from you again, and I’m glad the new lawn is down and settling in nicely. You’re absolutely right about the Landroid M500 – it’s a solid machine, but the side‑docking requirement and perimeter wire can be limiting, especially in a smaller garden like yours.Given what you’ve said, I’d definitely recommend looking at the YUKA Mini 600. I actually use one myself, and it’s been a brilliant fit for a compact lawn. A couple of reasons why I think it would work well for you:1. No perimeter wire needed – it uses onboard sensors and RTK GPS mapping to stay within the lawn, which saves the hassle of laying cable. 2. Compact charging dock – it can drive itself off the lawn to charge, so you don’t need to sacrifice valuable grass space for side docking. 3. Perfect size for small gardens – it’s designed for lawns up to 600m², so it’s more than capable of handling your setup without being oversized. 4. Low maintenance – once it’s set up, it’s really a “set and forget” type of mower. If you’re happy to spend a little more for convenience and a cleaner setup, the Mini 600 is a great choice. I’ve been very pleased with mine, and I think it would suit your garden perfectly. There is currently a really good special offer on the YUKA Mini, saving £150, link below - https://uk.mammotion.com/products/yuka-mini-robot-lawn-mower?ref=kd2jxen4&utm_campaign=12268399&utm_medium=kol&utm_source=goaffpro&variants=50366581113133All the bestMark

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for your kind words!

For a garden of around 69 sq/m, a smaller, efficient robot mower would definitely be more cost-effective than artificial grass and can keep your lawn well maintained with minimal effort.

It’s important to note that no robot mower cuts completely right up to the edge; most leave a small strip near borders uncut. Having a neat boarded or slabbed edge helps keep the lawn looking tidy and reduces manual trimming.

There are some fantastic GPS-guided robotic mowers available, but for a lawn your size, they would likely be overkill in terms of cost. A perimeter wire-based model, such as the WORX Landroid M500, would be more than sufficient and more budget-friendly. I have this in my front lawn, and has been working well for several years. There is a slightly smaller model, but this has the blade set in the middle of the mower and doesn't cut to the edge as well as the M500.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you’d like more information.

Hello again Mark, So my new lawn is now laid, it's been 6 weeks since I first emailed you. I have looked into the Landroid M500 that you suggested, but it seems that I have to have the charging port on the side of the lawn/grass. Given my extremely small garden, this would be a show stopper. I also don't really want to have a perimeter wire put down. I'm happy to spend a few extra £££, and saw your review of the Yuka Mini. Would you recommend a mini 600? Or something else. I need the robot to drive itself off the lawn and charge. And ideally not have a perimeter wire. Many thanks in advance. Paul
