Hi Mark, having reached 95, mowing the lawn has become a bit of a strain ! I still do a number of normal jobs around the garden, but the lawn, although small (8 mtrs x 5 mtrs}, is a perfect rectangle, with no odd bits, two edges edged by concrete path , the other two by flower beds. I like the sound of the lawnmaster 16, but would like reassurance that this is not a ” you get what you pay for” situation.
As you can imagine, I dont want to be spending unnecessary amounts of money at my age. Your opinion would be very helpful Thank you , Ian.

Hi Ian,

To give you the best advice, were you thinking of the "drop and mow" OcuMow 16 or the auto-charging OcuMow AMB 16?

These mowers work well, but they leave at least 10cm of uncut lawn around the edge. Since they use camera-only guidance, they cannot straddle the edge of the lawn, so some manual trimming will still be required. They also mow in a random pattern, eventually covering the whole lawn. Higher-end models use GPS to mow systematically, which is more efficient, but they often cost double the price of an OcuMow.

Crucially, the auto-charging AMB 16 is "set and forget," whereas the standard "drop and mow" model requires you to manually recover the mower and recharge it once the battery is depleted. Given your situation, the auto-charging version might be the more helpful choice!

All the best, Mark
