Unpacking the ANTHBOT Genie Robotic Mower

Many people what to know exactly what is included in the box, you can either read on or watch my video below to get the look and feel of this ANTHBOT Genie Robotic mower and what extras you might want to consider.

What’s in the Box

ANTHBOT Genie What's in the Box

The standard kit includes the robotic mower itself, which comes in three models: the Genie 600, Genie 1000, and Genie 3000. These numbers indicate the square metre coverage each model can handle—600m², 1000m², or 3000m² respectively. The mower is not limited to a single lawn; it can handle multiple zones.

The RTK station is included as well, which works with GPS to guide the mower. A mounting pole for the RTK station comes standard, along with the charging station where your robot returns to recharge between cutting sessions.

The documentation is refreshingly straightforward—you’ll find a comprehensive user guide and a quick-start sheet that makes setup possible in just 10-15 minutes. I know it may be hard to believe, but it is true!

Optional Extras and Replacement Blades

Beyond the standard kit, several optional extras can enhance your experience. Replacement blades are available for purchase when the included spares wear out, and spare batteries can be acquired to extend the operational lifetime of your mower.

For protection from the elements, a “Garage” roof is available as an optional purchase. This covers the charging station, sheltering your robot from sun exposure and debris when docked.

Another valuable option is the separate RTK mounting kit. While the standard setup places the RTK station next to the charging station as you can see in my video, this might not always be ideal for satellite reception. The separate mounting kit that can be attached to your house includes:

  • Power supply
  • Cable
  • Wall mounting bracket

This allows you to position the RTK station in an optimal location for satellite signals—perhaps mounted on your house—while keeping the charging station elsewhere on your property. This flexibility can be crucial for achieving the best performance, though it’s worth noting this is an additional purchase rather than a standard inclusion.

Setting Up Your ANTHBOT Genie Charging Base Placement

Setting Up Your ANTHBOT Genie Charging Base Placement

The charging base forms the home for your ANTHBOT Genie robotic lawn mower. I recommend positioning it on a flat section of lawn with good access to a power supply. When installing the base, use the provided ground screws to secure it firmly into the soil, ensuring it remains stable during operation. If your power source is located some distance from your ideal charging position, utilise the included extension cable to bridge the gap. If you want to see how easy this is to set up, watch my video.

For added protection, consider purchasing the optional garage roof accessory, which shields your Genie from direct sunlight, falling debris, and inclement weather. This helps maintain the mower in pristine condition, particularly important if you have trees overhead that shed leaves or seeds.

RTK Station Installation

The RTK beacon is crucial for precise navigation of your ANTHBOT Genie. Begin by attaching the station to the supplied pole, then connect this assembly to the charging station. Push the spike firmly into the ground to prevent movement that could affect navigation accuracy. See my video to see how straightforward this process is.

Alternative Placement Options

  • The RTK beacon doesn’t need to be adjacent to the charging station.
  • Can be wall-mounted separately using the optional mounting kit.
  • Ideal positioning prioritises clear satellite signal reception.

For optimal performance, place the RTK station in a location with unobstructed access to the sky. This ensures reliable GPS signal reception, which forms the primary navigation method for the Genie. The separate mounting kit (sold separately) includes a power supply, cable, and wall bracket—perfect if your charging station location doesn’t offer good satellite visibility.

Quick Start Guide Essentials

The ANTHBOT Genie comes with a comprehensive quick start guide that walks you through the initial setup process. I’ve found this guide exceptionally clear, allowing you to have your mower operational within 10-15 minutes of unboxing.

Initial Setup Steps

  1. Position and secure the charging station.
  2. Mount the RTK station.
  3. Connect the power supply (using the appropriate regional plug adapter).
  4. Power on the Genie.

As I mentioned in my video, one brilliant feature of the ANTHBOT Genie is its auto-mapping capability. Unlike most robotic mowers that require you to manually walk the boundaries, you can simply place the Genie on your lawn, select auto-map, and it will independently determine the lawn perimeter. This functionality combines GPS precision with the mower’s advanced camera system to create accurate virtual boundaries without the hassle of perimeter wires.

The Genie’s four cameras—two forward-facing and two on the sides—provide additional guidance when satellite signals are compromised, such as under trees. This dual-technology approach ensures continuous operation even in challenging conditions.

Navigation Systems: GPS with RTK Enhancement

Navigation Systems: GPS with RTK Enhancement

The ANTHBOT Genie utilises cutting-edge navigation technology, abandoning traditional boundary wires for a more sophisticated approach. It relies on a combination of GPS and RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) positioning systems to create virtual boundaries. The RTK station comes with a mounting pole that can be positioned either with the charging station or separately with an optional wall-mounting kit. This setup provides precise guidance across your garden without the maintenance headaches of physical wires.

Camera Integration and Smart Features

What did I like? Well, the Genie stands out with its four strategically placed cameras—two at the front and one on each side. These cameras serve multiple critical functions beyond simple navigation. When tree cover or other obstacles block GPS signals, the Genie seamlessly switches to camera-based guidance rather than stopping operations. This dual navigation approach ensures continuous mowing even in challenging environments.

Obstacle Detection and Self-Mapping

I was also particularly impressed with the Genie’s auto-mapping capability. Unlike many competitors that require you to walk the garden boundary manually, the Genie can automatically detect and map your lawn boundaries. The AI-powered cameras identify obstacles in real-time, allowing the mower to navigate around them without interruption. This intelligent obstacle avoidance system means you don’t need to clear your lawn completely before mowing begins.

Cutting Patterns and Efficiency

Cutting Patterns and Efficiency

The ANTHBOT Genie moves beyond the random mowing patterns common in older robotic mowers. Instead, it cuts in methodical, straight lines for more efficient coverage. You can choose between a single or double pass, therefore creating a chequerboard pattern with the latter option; This systematic approach ensures no patches are missed during operation. The result is not only a more thoroughly cut lawn as can be seen in my video, but also an aesthetically pleasing striped finish that resembles professional mowing results. What’s more, all this happens whilst I am sitting down with a glass of wine…and everyone is happy!

Showcasing Key Capabilities Managing Multiple Lawn Areas

I’ve tested the ANTHBOT Genie across both my back and front lawns to demonstrate its multi-zone capabilities. This robotic mower can effortlessly navigate between different lawn areas without requiring separate setups for each section. The Genie 3000 model covers up to 3,000 square metres, while the smaller 1000 and 600 models handle 1,000 and 600 square metres respectively.

What impressed me was how the mower creates virtual boundaries rather than relying on physical perimeter wires. The RTK station works with GPS technology to guide the mower precisely between different lawn zones. When I set up the mower in my back garden, it smoothly travelled to the front lawn following the programmed route, see its impressive performance in my video.

Automatic and Manual Control Options

Automatic and Manual Control Options

The ANTHBOT Genie offers remarkable flexibility in operation modes. I found the auto-mapping feature particularly impressive—I placed the mower on my lawn then activated auto-mapping, it independently identified the perimeter and created a virtual boundary without manual intervention.

The mower uses an advanced combination of technologies for guidance:

  • GPS with RTK for precise positioning
  • Four cameras (two front, two side) for obstacle detection
  • AI-driven navigation system

Final Thoughts and My Verdict

After thoroughly testing the ANTHBOT Genie robotic lawn mower, I’m genuinely impressed with its innovative features and performance. The combination of GPS with RTK technology and its four cameras creates a truly intelligent mowing system that outperforms traditional boundary wire models.

When comparing it to the Mammotion YUKA robotic mower, it’s clear that Mammotion is currently further ahead in their development cycle, offering more refined functionality at this point. However, the Genie still delivers impressive performance with significant potential.

Final Thoughts and My Verdict

The auto-mapping function is brilliant, saving me the hassle of manually walking the perimeter. I simply placed it on my lawn and watched as it created its own virtual boundary. When navigating between my back and front gardens, the Genie handled the transition well, though perhaps not with the same level of sophistication as the more mature YUKA system.

What sets this mower apart is its ability to continue working even when GPS signals are compromised. The four cameras take over when needed, ensuring uninterrupted mowing even under dense tree coverage. This dual guidance system provided consistent results across my entire property.

The efficient line-by-line mowing pattern delivers a perfectly cut lawn without missed patches, you can either select a single or double pass, with the double pass you will end up with a chequerboard pattern that will be envied by your friends and neighbours. This methodical approach is vastly superior to the random patterns used by many robotic mowers I’ve tested.

With the Genie 3000 the battery is a massive 10Ah, giving you extended runtimes and the ability for the mower to deal with larger lawns (this size is approximately 12 tennis courts to give you an idea).

This robotic mower is available in three models (600, 1000, and 3000), there’s an ANTHBOT Genie to suit various garden sizes up to 3,000 square metres. And the best part? The Genie will continue to improve over the coming weeks thanks to regular app and firmware updates, potentially closing the gap with more established models like the YUKA or the LUBA from Mammotion.

Does the mower require me to map my lawn first?

No, that’s one of the impressive features. While most GPS-guided mowers require you to walk the boundary to create a virtual perimeter, the ANTHBOT Genie can auto-map your lawn. Simply place it on your lawn, select the auto-map function, and it will discover the perimeter by itself.

How efficient is the mowing pattern?

The ANTHBOT Genie doesn’t use random mowing patterns like some robotic mowers. Instead, it moves in perfect straight lines up and down your lawn and has the ability/option to do a double pass, therefore creating a chequerboard pattern. The results are a complete and efficient coverage with no missed patches.

Can the mower handle obstacles?

Yes, the ANTHBOT Genie uses its four cameras (two front, two side) for obstacle avoidance. When it detects an object in its path, it will avoid it by turning around and continue mowing. Don’t worry about any patches being left behind, as it will come back and continue mowing that patch.

Overall, the ANTHBOT Genie is a remarkable addition to the world of robotic lawn care, blending advanced technology with user-friendly features to create a top-tier mowing experience. Having said that, as of March 2025, there are some features that are missing but can be found on some of the competition like the Mammotion range of robotic mowers. But rest assured ANTHBOT are working hard to develop the app and firmware of this robotic mower, so will therefore only keep enhancing over the coming weeks and months.
