The Best Flymo Mowers

The Best Flymo Mowers

logo Flymo

I have tried out a lot of Flymo lawn mowers over the years and I have to say that this brand really does live up to its reputation for quality and ease of use. However, I have heard far too many people say that they avoid Flymo because they only make hover mowers. This is a common misconception and in actually fact, Flymo makes a range of different mowers that are suited to almost every need.

So, to demonstrate this, I wanted to put together this guide. It’ll show you some of the very best Flymo mowers out there at the moment and what you can expect from them. I’ll also try to get you better acquainted with the brand so you can see just how versatile it is.

A Brief History of Flymo

Flymo has been in operation for a respectable 57 years and is an offshoot of the well known manufacturer, Husqvarna. This is a Swedish brand and the guy that came up with the idea for the original Flymo hover mower was called Karl Dahlman.

Dahlman was inspired by the hovercraft, a British invention, no less, which made him wonder whether this type of technology could be extended to garden tools. Lo and behold, he came up with the hover mower that we all know and love. Interestingly, the name Flymo wasn’t just a haphazard word; it’s actually derived from the term flying mower which Dahlman had used to describe his new invention. Pretty clever, right?

What Types Of Mowers Does Flymo Make

In 1965, the first Flymo lawn mowers went on sale, and they hit the market with a bang. Everyone was clamouring to get their hands on one. These mowers were much more lightweight and easy to manoeuvre than the classic petrol mower of the day so it didn’t come as much of a surprise that they took off as well as they did.

The brand has gone from strength to strength since then, adding various products to its repertoire. Today, you can buy Flymo products in more than 40 countries around the world and the company employs a whopping 14,000 people globally.

What Types Of Mowers Does Flymo Make?

As I mentioned earlier, a lot of people are under the impression that Flymo only makes hover mowers. Yes, this is the company’s most famous product but there are lots of other options if hover mowers aren’t your thing.

Flymo now manufactures a range of robotic mowers for the modern gardener that wants convenience and as little work as possible. The company also produces corded electric lawn mowers as well as a great range of lightweight, powerful and easy to use cordless models.

Flymo doesn’t make petrol lawn mowers but their electric and cordless range is backed by a wide selection of lawn mower accessories so you can get everything you need from one company. And if that wasn’t enough, Flymo has even extended its reach to things like blowers, hedge trimmer and grass trimmers. There’s something for everyone.

The 5 Best Flymo Lawn Mowers

I could talk to you all day about why I think that Flymo is an excellent mower brand, but it’s so much easier if I demonstrate this by showing you the products. Keep in mind that the range of mowers I am about to review is just a portion of what you can expect from this company.

I’ve broken the mowers down into categories so you can easily find what you’re looking for. Moreover, keep in mind that the following details are a brief overview of each product. I do have more in depth reviews for each of these which you can access by clicking on the relevant links.

1. The Best Flymo Cordless Mower – Flymo EasiStore 340R Li

Flymo EasiStore 340R Li Review

Cordless mowers are so sought after these days and they’re super convenient if you want something that’ll get the job done with minimal fuss. What’s more, they’re great for the environment and there’s no pesky power cord getting in the way or limiting your reach.

I recently used the EasiStore 340R Li and I have to say, I have been very impressed. For such an affordable piece of equipment, it really does a nice job of creating a trimmed, neat and even lawn. What’s more, there’s even a rear roller for that striped lawn effect.

The EasiStore 340R Li comes in a choice of two sizes; 30cm and 34cm. Both are better suited to smaller lawns but you’ll get a 30 minute running time which gives you more than enough time to complete the mow without having to stop to charge in the middle. When it comes to charging, you will have to wait 180 minutes for the batteries to refill but since you get a dual charger included, that’s certainly a bonus.

The EasiStore 340R Li is supplied with two 20v batteries, a large 35 litre grass box and dual folding handles for easy storage; hence the name. You can also store this one vertically which is even more convenient.

Do keep in mind that the cutting heights vary between models. The 30cm EasiStore only has a choice of three cutting heights while the 34cm model comes with five. That said, for a small lawn, you aren’t going to need tons of options here.

Main Features

  • 34cm cutting width
  • Adjustable cutting height with 5 settings
  • Easy to fold away with vertical storage
  • Cordless mower for greater freedom
  • Roller for creating a striped lawn
  • 35-litre grass collection box
  • Dual lever handles

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Perfect for smaller gardens with a choice of two models with different cutting widths
  • Adjustable cutting heights between 25mm and 65mm
  • Good sized grass box (35 litres)
  • Optimised for easy vertical storage
  • Roller for creating stripes
  • Powerful battery and no cords
  • Dual lever handle
Cons
  • No option for mulching
  • Not suitable for larger lawns

2. The Best Flymo Electric Mower – Flymo EasiMow 340R

Flymo EasiMow 300R, 340R & 380R Review

If you have a slightly larger lawn and are worried that a cordless mower won’t last long enough to cover it, then the EasiMow 340R is a great option. That said, this mower does only have a standard 10 metre power cable so for very large gardens, you will need an extension cable.

The EasiMow comes in a choice of three cutting widths; 30cm, 34cm and 36cm. This means that, unlike the EasiStore, you could use the largest of these three models for a medium sized lawn. Moreover, the bigger 36cm model boasts a whopping 1600w power. Even so, the 34cm runs on 1400w and the 30cm runs on 1200w, so they’re all pretty decent in terms of power. Note that each mower comes with different cutting heights. The larger two have a choice of five cutting heights while the 30cm model only has three. This wouldn’t put me off but you should keep in mind that the 30cm model doesn’t have central height adjustment so it’s a little more fiddly and time consuming to switch things up.

The EasiMow range also performs superbly thanks to the inclusion of grass combs which lift the blades of grass to allow for more even cutting. This isn’t something you see on all Flymo mowers, so it is definitely one of the major selling points of this range.

The EasiMow range does come with a rear roller so you can create a striped lawn but there isn’t an option to mulch which is a shame. However, the mowers are super easy to use thanks to dual operator controls on either side of the folding handle. What’s more, when it comes to storage, this lightweight lawn mower can be stored vertically so it’s a real space saver.

Cons

  • 300R model uses a manual height adjustment (not the case with larger 340R and 380R models).

3. The Best Flymo Hover Mower With Collection – Flymo EasiGlide 300

Flymo EasiGlide 300 Review

Flymo is best known for its hover mowers and the EasiGlide 300 is one of the very best. Now, as with the other mowers I have talked about, you do have options when it comes to cutting width. The EasiGlide comes in either a 30cm, 33cm or 36cm deck so for those with small or medium lawns, there’s something to suit your needs.

What I really love about this mower is how quietly it runs. It’s also very lightweight and so easy to manoeuvre. If you’ve ever found a petrol lawn mower too heavy, then this will be a very welcome change. If that wasn’t enough, you’ll also appreciate how easy it is to use which is something that Flymo seems to pride itself on.

The EasiGlide also varies in terms of power with the smaller two mowers operating on 1700w while the largest runs on an 1800w. This is pretty impressive when you think that these are only small, lightweight mowers so you’ll get a very decent performance out of them.

The Easiglide comes with four cutting heights between 10mm and 30mm. It’s not the most versatile of choices, I know but for smaller gardens, it’s more than enough. There aren’t any options for mulching and there isn’t a rear roller but if you want a simple mower that you can just whip out and get things done, it’s brilliant.

Finally, I must point out that the EasiGlide comes with a 20 litre collection box. Unless you buy the 36cm model, in which case, it holds up to 26 litres of clippings. This might sound small but when you think that this is a smaller mower anyway, it’s perfectly sized and compatible.

Main Features

  • Lawn Size: small to medium
  • Power: 1700 Watt
  • Cable Length: 10 metre corded, mains power
  • Blade Length: 30cm Metal
  • Number of Cutting Heights: 4 (from 10mm to 30mm)
  • Grass Box Capacity: 20 L
  • Weight: 8.2 Kg

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Economical
  • Simple to use
  • Updated model for 2021 – 1700w motor
  • Handle design allows for storage on the wall
  • Compact storage
  • Quiet operation
Cons
  • Smaller Grass Box (but neatly integrated in the mower body)
  • Power cord a little short at 10 metres

4. The Best Flymo Hover Mower Without Collection – Flymo Turbo Lite 250

Flymo Turbo Lite 250 Review

If you don’t want a hover mower with a collection box then you might opt for the Turbo Lite 250. This comes in a choice of two sizes; 25cm and 26cm. Keep in mind that this is a very small mower designed for compact gardens. If you’ve got anything much bigger than 250m² then I would recommend going for something larger or you’ll find that you spend far too long cutting the grass.

The Turbo lite 250 might be small but with 1400w of power it’s going to go full force on that lawn. It delivers a nice clean cut and with a choice of four cutting heights between 11mm and 31mm, you’ve got a nice amount of options for such a compact machine.

In keeping with the Flymo theme, this mower is really easy to use thanks to dual controls, quiet and very lightweight. It’s a great choice for people who don’t have a lot of time to maintain their lawn but want something they can pull out at a moment’s notice and quickly go over the lawn. It doesn’t have any showy features like a rear roller or mulching mode but for an affordable lawn mower, it does what you’d expect. Plus you get a one year warranty.

Flymo Turbo Lite 250 Main Features

  • For lawns of up to 250m²

5. The Best Flymo Robotic Mower – Flymo EasiLife 800

Flymo EasiLife 800 Robotic Lawn Mower Review

Who needs to worry about when they’re going to have the time to mow the lawn? I know that sometimes, I feel as though I have one too many chores to get done. So, with the option of a robot mower, you don’t have to fill your weekends up with as many garden tasks.

The Flymo EasiLife is designed for ease of use, convenience and simple garden maintenance. What I love about it is that it might be small, with its 16cm cutting width, but it’s bursting with exciting features. For example, this is an incredibly intelligent piece of equipment that senses lawn growth and weather which allows it to optimise how and when it cuts.

When fully charged, which takes just 60 minutes, the EasiLife will run continuously for 65 minutes. It mows in a random pattern which is fine, but you should keep in mind that, for bigger gardens, it will take longer to access all parts of the grass.

It benefits from a range of cutting heights between 20mm and 50mm so there’s a nice degree of versatility. Plus, the EasiLife is super quiet and very easy to use. There’s a simple LCD display and a compatible smartphone app for full control. However, if you’re not as tech savvy, you might choose the EasiLife GO range which has simplified controls for even better user friendliness.

The EasiLife comes with 150 metres of guide wire and 200 pegs. Plus, it boasts collision sensors so you don’t have to worry about it crashing into any lawn ornaments, children, pets and anything else that might be on the grass.

Main Features

  • Quiet Mowing
  • 18 V Lithium-Ion Battery — 2.0 Ah
  • Bluetooth Compatible
  • Flymo Mobile App
  • LawnSense and FrostSense for optimised cutting schedule to the weather and lawn growth conditions
  • Anti-theft, PIN-Code and Alarm
  • Adjustable Cutting Heights: 20mm to 50mm
  • Smart Dock for Self-Charging
  • Dual Area and Spot-Cut Functions
  • 3 Pivoting Blades
  • Small and Lightweight
  • 2-Year Warranty
  • Collision Sensors
