The Best Robotic Lawn Mowers For Small Gardens

Best Robotic Lawn Mowers For Small Gardens

Now even with a small area of lawn, mowing can still be a pain especially if you have a lot of complex and hard to reach spaces. That’s where a robotic mower comes in handy, it’ll take all the annoying manual work off your hands and will be able to get into those spaces much more effectively than your big bulky push mower – it’ll also do a better job too!

The thing is which one do you choose? There are quite a few options available as most manufacturers will have designed models suited to this type of lawn, but to make this easier I have two in mind that I want to show you. These models are from the markets two biggest players – Husqvarna and Robomow. With the experience these companies have had over the years it is no surprise that they have built such fine mowers and that they are the best out the lot.

I know you still have to choose between the both of them but this shouldn’t be too hard. In terms of quality and price both models are pretty much the same so no decision really needs to be made here, what you do need to focus more towards is how compatible your lawn is with each model. You need to consider their lawn coverage, how well they deal with tight spots, do they need to handle more than one lawn area and how much assistance are you willing (wanting) to give during a mowing.

I’ll be discussing these things below and I’ll recommend which type of person suits each best at the end.

The Best Robot Lawn Mowers For Small GardensNo.1 Husqvarna 105

  • Covers areas up to 600m²
  • Unique & Effective Cutting System
  • Very Reliable – probably the most reliable out of the two!
  • Minimum Assistance

For those looking to limit their work within the garden as much as possible, this is the mower for you. Out of the entire market, Husqvarna models are the closest you’ll get to complete mower independence, all you’ll need to do is trim the edges every now and then, and the 105 is no different.

It’ll handle long grass at the beginning of spring without a problem, its navigation system will ensure it gets out the trickiest of spots without help from you and slopes (up to 14°) will be climbed with ease. It might not have as many user features as the next model but with it you really can just sit back and let it do its thing.

The Best Robot Lawn Mowers For Small GardensNo.2 Robomow RX20

  • Covers Areas up to 300m² (preferably 200m²)
  • Hard to Beat Mobility
  • Mobile/Tablet Connection
  • Easy Operation

For those with the small, complex garden this one is for you. With a Glider at the back instead of a third wheel and the Smart Mow navigation system, the RX20 is super mobile which means it can get into those hard to reach spots much more effectively than any other mower (robotic & manual). Not only that but it has range of “Mowing Modes” you can use for different situations, a floating deck so that it can reach the bottom of little bumps and holes and it can manage up to 5 different lawn areas. No matter how complex or unique you garden looks, the RX20 will keep it in tip-top shape.

With this model you also get a few more user features to make your life a little easier, the mobile app will come in handy if you want to sent the mower out, change its settings etc while you’re not home, and the rain sensor stops the mower from mowing in the rain so there’s no need for you to do so manually.

Final Thoughts

So to sum up, if you have a 600m² lawn, want to remove yourself as much as possible from the lawn care process and get a mower that requires as little as assistance as possible then go with the Husqvarna 105. But if you have a more unique and complex shaped lawn that is 200-300m² in size and want more user features then go with the Robomow RX20.

  1. I didn’t even know these existed. That is awesome. I don’t have a lawn right now, but when I do again, I will be looking your way. I have spent so much time mowing and dealing with all the frustrations that come with small yards with lots of obstacles and its good to know there is an alternative!

    1. Great to hear Alex, yeah they’ll save you loads of bother so make sure you check them out 😉

  2. It would so awesome to have one of these. I have a small market farm about an hour away from where I live, and this would help tremendously when no one is there. I will defiantly be coming back to check out the Robomo Rx20. This site is bookmarked! Keep up the good work!
