Hyundai HYM40LI420SP 42cm deck V’s Hyundai 45 cm HYM80Li460SP self propelled, which is better?

Hi Mark,
I have a question that you may be able to help me with.

I am considering buying a cordless lawnmower.

My garden is medium sized.

I was thinking of either
1) the Hyundai 42cm deck propelled £349.99, 26Kg 1 battery (2.5Ah Li-Ion Battery | HYM40LI420SP)

or

2) the Hyundai 45 cm self propelled £519 (36kg) 80V, 2X 2.5 Ah Li-on batteries. (HYM80Li460SP)

I was after an easy to use lawnmower, that will mow my lawn to a reasonable standard. My lawn is 350m sqm front 200 sqm back).

Does the 42cm do a good job? I am not sure if it will have a long enough run time or enough power with just one 40V battery.

Also re the propelled facility, I thought this may help me. Would you recommend this or is this additional feature heavy?

From your review video it seemed that you thought the £519.99 Hyundai was a good model. (Plus extra charger)

Any help or suggestions would be great,

Hi

I would go for the smaller 42cm model HYM40LI420SP. The runtime will be very similar between them even though the 45cm model has two batteries. What you are getting with the larger model and two batteries is more power to cut thicker longer grass, but both will run at 2.5Ah (runtime).

If you keep on top of your lawn maintenance and don’t let the lawn grow “knee high” then this 42cm should be fine and cut the entire lawn (around 40min). You always have the option to purchase a spare/extra battery. Batteries are around £90 which is cheaper than some other brands. You will also have the option to purchase other 40v tools, such as hedge trimmers, that can share the battery.

Yes the self-propelled drive will definitely help take the strain as you just guide the mower around the lawn.

Don’t forget I have a 5% discount code EASYLAWN5 if you purchase direct from Hyundai.

What you don’t get with this smaller deck is the side discharge option, so only cut and collect, mulching and rear discharge. Also, both models don’t have a rear roller.

Also, you may have to wait a little for delivery as I know there is a stock shortage of many cordless mowers. I believe this Hyundai will be delivered around the middle of June 2024.

Hope this helps.

Mark
