The Hyundai HYBV3000E is a 3-in-1 Leaf blower, Vacuum and Mulcher that weighs only 3.3kg and is used for tidying up the garden throughout the year. The HYBV3000E has a powerful 3000W motor that has variable speeds between 8,000 and 14,000 rpm and a telescopic chute that extends from 70cm to 100cm reducing storage space. The built in mulching facility reduces the foliage and grass by ratio of 1/10th of its original size making it suitable for composting.
I have tried and tested many leaf blowers and garden vacuums over the years and was looking to upgrade my old, large and heavy Spear and Jackson vacuum. The new Hyundai HYBV3000E looked on paper to be the perfect replacement with all the features I was looking for in a more portable and powerful leaf blower.
Did this Hyundai HYBV3000E leaf blower live up to my expectations? In this review I will be looking at all the features and functions and sharing with you the good and not so good aspects of this 3-in-1 blower, vacuum and mulcher from Hyundai. By the end of this review you will know if this is the right make and model for you and your garden.
Why the Hyundai HYBV3000E?
Before we take a closer look at this leaf blower it would be good to understand what I was looking for in a leaf blower and why it meets my personal requirements. I don’t have a huge garden but have large trees at the end that shed their leaves starting in early October. I decided a corded leaf blower would provide the power I required with a minimum cable length of 10 metres to allow me to cover the whole garden. The reason I did not choose a petrol leaf blower is due to requiring maintenance and producing more noise and fumes that my neighbours would not appreciate on a Sunday morning. I also ruled out a battery leaf blower due to them costing significantly more and having reduced power/run time for little gain. I therefore decided a corded leaf blower would be the best option to meet my requirements.
I was looking for a light weight leaf blower that has the added ability to vacuum and mulch, that is well balanced and takes up as little storage space as possible. It needs to be able to easily blow wet and dry leaves and debris into a pile and then allow me to vacuum up quickly to make my garden clean, tidy and free from leaves. The mulching function needs to reduce the volume of leaves and debris in the collection bag by a substantial amount so it is suitable for composting.
Let’s take a closer look at the details of this promising leaf blower from Hyundai and whether or not it meets my requirements detailed above.
Video Review of the Hyundai HYBV3000E
To give you a visual representation and to see my video review of the Hyundai HYBV3000E please watch the video below:
The Hyundai HYBV3000E has a powerful 3000W motor that is more than adequate to tackle the toughest conditions fast and efficiently. The motor speed can be adjusted between 8,000 and 14,000 rpm depending on the conditions allowing the airspeed to be controlled between 62 and 186mph. How does this compare with other makes of blowers? Actually very well – the Bosch ALS 2500 has only a 2500W motor but does produce a similar maximum airflow of around 180mph.
Are there more powerful corded leaf blowers available? Not really – this Hyundai HYBV3000E with a 3000W motor and variable airspeed is as good as it gets in the consumer market, so well done to Hyundai for that.
If you do need more power you should be looking at a petrol powered leaf blower.
The Hyundai HYBV3000E is a corded leaf blower and comes with a very respectable 12 metre cable that is suitable for small to medium sized gardens. The cable is good quality and and can be extended if needed. Always use a Socket RCD Safety Adaptor when using any corded garden tools.
Design
The Hyundai HYBV3000E has an ergonomic design complete with anti-vibration technology and is portable enough to allow it to be easily manoeuvred around the garden. This is made easier by the shoulder strap that is padded and two front wheels that takes the weight of this leaf blower.
The chute adjustment is a nice touch from Hyundai and allows the chute to be adjusted in 9 varying lengths from 70cm to 100cm, this compares well with other makes of leaf blower. I was surprised just how small the box was when the postman delivered this Hyundai leaf blower, this is down to the chute adjustment that significantly reduces the storage space for this Hyundai HYBV3000E.
Remember this leaf blower weighs only 3.3kg and I hope you can see from my video just how easy and well balanced this leaf blower is and compares favourably with the likes of the Bosch ALS 2500 that weighs 4.4 kg when in vacuuming mode.
The quality seems to be as good as the Bosch leaf blowers and Hyundai back this up with a respectable 3 year warranty.
Mulching & Shredding
The Hyundai HYBV3000E does have a mulching and shredding function that reduces the debris collected by 1/10th. Does this make the Hyundai better than its competitors? Well no not really, most leaf blowers will have this facility and most will mulch at the 10-1 ratio and some even achieve 16-1. I have shown in my video just how well this Hyundai mulches and shreds the collected debris making it suitable for composting.
The collection bag on the Hyundai HYBV3000E has a respectable 45 litre capacity, this is the standard size for a leaf blower of this class. The zip on the collection bag opens easily and empties with no problems. The opening could have been a little larger, such as that on the Bosch ALS 2500 that opens completely around the entire collection bag.

Practicalities
The HYBV3000E leaf blower is a lightweight, versatile and powerful electric leaf blower from Hyundai that comes complete with front wheels and a convenient shoulder support harness.
It is well balanced and weighing only 3.3kg makes it easy to transport and manoeuvre during use. The design allows the functions and variable speed switch to be easily reached in order to control the airspeed whilst maintaining control. The spacious 45 litre collection bag offers enough space for longer periods of use and is easy to remove from the leaf blower to empty.
The two front wheels allow easy manoeuvrability and control around driveways, paths, decking and lawns. Switching between vacuuming and blowing is quick and simple via a single lever.
This is 3-in-1 leaf blower, vacuum and mulcher delivers a max airspeed of 186mph (299km/h) that is comparable to other electric leaf blowers on the consumer market. The way in which the chute slides up significantly reduces storage space in your shed or garage.
The Hyundai HYBV3000E is as practical as any leaf blower currently available in this price range and can not be faulted in that respect.

Most of the leaves in my garden are wet and on the Hyundai assembly video it says do not vacuum wet leaves. You mention in your video that the leaves were wet. Is it safe to use on wet leaves or not?
Yes sorry I can’t help, it does seem to be out of stock atm. Hyundai Power Equipment do get shipments on a regular basis, so would hope it would not be too long before they come back in stock.
That is great, thanks Susan for letting me know. I am pleased the review provided enough information to assist with your decision. Let me know how you get on. Mark
Hi Mark Just received my leaf blower, no problems so far. One question though in the manual it says that the machine will not work without the collection bag being installed!!!! my machine works with or without the bag. Is the manual correct/// Jack
Carried out the procedure on the video. However, prob my fault but the white switch and associated spring popped out. Now struggling to work out how to put it back together. Do I have to somehow compress the spring before I assemble it??? Sorry if this is pretty basic.
I’ve just been out to look at my Hyundai HYBV3000E. It looks like you will need to unscrew 3 more screws further down the chute in order to open up the switch housing to allow you to compress and insert the spring.
You could always give Hyundai Power Tools a call on 01646 687 880, they are very helpful and should be able to assist.
Watched your video. Almost at no time did the wheels touch the ground, so the question must be asked why have wheels. Also didn’t see you ever demonstrating the shoulder strap. It may be lightweight, but as a pensioner I need every aid possible. I found the shoulder strap useless, but I may be using it wrongly. Also the wheels would be helpful but I, like you find I need to have the thing in the air all the time. Any advice welcome.
Yes, there was no need to use the wheels as I found it so lightweight it was quicker to move from left to right. You can use the wheels with no problem but you will need to use it more like a household hoover.
With regard to the strap, I did start to use it but found it served no purpose and actually restricted the movement somewhat. The same was true with my previous garden vac, so don’t think this is specific to the Hyundai.
This Hyundai HYBV3000E is almost half the weight of my previous vac so in comparison was so easy and light to use.
Thanks for pointing us to the video from Hyundai for unblocking the leaf blower. Mine is choked right now so will be carrying this out ASAP.
Had only used it twice when the carrying bag handle broke. Hyundai sent me a new item, but I repaired and modified the old one (once I had a new one) to hopefully strengthen it. I still have the new one if required. The handle is not of very strong construction, and was cracking at both sides. I strengthened with pieces of tin and screws and filled the little voids with epoxy resin. Time will tell if the mods were successful, but in any case I still have a brand new item as backup.
Hi received my Hyundai leaf blower/vacume today can’t wait to try it out only puzzling thing is there is a Slidng White plastic Panel just Above where the Bag Attatches WHAT IS IT FOR AS BOOKLET DOES NOT EXPLAIN ITS USE? Regards Maggie
I have just had a look at mine and can see the sliding white plastic on the back of the blower.
This is purely for hanging your blower up and is designed to accommodate several different types of hooks. It has nothing to do with the actual operation of the blower.
Hello all. I contacted hyundaipowerequipment.co.uk and asked: “On page 13 of the instruction book it says – under ‘Tube Blockage’ (6.15) ‘…unscrew the knob of the impeller access door.’ Which knob is this? Where is it?” I received a prompt reply that said: “I can apologise but this was included in the manual when it shouldn’t of been. To gain access. You will need to loosen the 3 screws on the main tube and then remove the extendable tube which you will then be able to put your hand through to unblock.”
Hi Mark Have you tested this machine on both wet and dry leaves or merely bench tested it? I am concerned that if the machine becomes blocked it will be nigh on impossible to clear the blockage. The only means of access appears to be the opening where you connect the collection bag. This neither gives access to the tube nor the impeller internal housing!
I did not have any problems with the leaves, they were a mix of dry leaves on top and wetter deeper down. I will hopefully get the video edited in the next couple of weeks so you can see how it performed for me.
I did contact Hyundai about access and they are going to update the user manual to show you can get access to the impeller. It remains to be seen how easy this will be as you have observed, the only access seems to be the opening where the collection bag connects.
I will post here when the user guide has been updated.
Thanks for this review. Do you happen to know what the impeller/mulcher blade is made of (i.e. Metal or plastic)? Also, in case of the impeller getting clogged up with debris, can it be easily accessed? From the photos it looks like it’s all sealed up inside the main plastic housing.
I have spoken with Hyundai today and their after sales team will be updating the manual with guidance on how to access the impeller to remove blockages. The revised manual will be available to download from their and my website as soon as it becomes available.
Is it possible to remove the upper suction tube to access the impeller to remove blockages if the occur? Thank you for an excellent review…very useful.
Glad I found your website Mark. I had looked at cheaper leaf-blowers but your thorough appraisal has confirmed that this is the best one for me – lightweight, easy to switch to vacuum, mulcher for instant leaf-mould preparation, and wee wheels to make it easy to trundle round the garden! Would you say this is suitable for gravel paths, of which I have many? I’m assuming the variable speed can accommodate this if full power sucks up the stones as well as the leaves.
I’ve had this leaf blower 10 days, used it 3 times, it’s superb, 1 question, on the back underneath the power lead there is a grey slider that pulls out, what does that do??

Hi Dave
Best not to use when the leaves are wet due to it causing blockages. The leaves I tested were mixed, dry, very damp and even wet in some places.
Best to let them dry out with any garden vacuum.
Thanks
Mark
Can you tell me what the white sliding plate under the body is for?
Hi Chris
This is to enable you to hang it on the wall.

Mark
Every store I have tried is out of stock for this Vac. Any chance you know where I can buy one?
Hi Susan,
Yes sorry I can’t help, it does seem to be out of stock atm. Hyundai Power Equipment do get shipments on a regular basis, so would hope it would not be too long before they come back in stock.

Just got mine from Amazon

Hi Jack
Thanks for your question.
To be honest I wasn’t too sure so I contacted Hyundai.
They recommend as follows:
Do not operate without the collection bag fitted firmly.
They have said that they will update the manual accordingly.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
All the best,

Hi All
I’ve had several emails asking how to unblock the chute on this Hyundai HYBV3000E 3-in-1 Leaf Blower if it does get blocked.
Well, I was going to make a video showing the process, however Hyundai Power Tools have beaten me to it.
The link below is a video showing the process to remove the lower part of the chute to allow access.
Let me know your experiences of this leaf blower and issues you may have experienced.

Hi Ben
Mulcher Blade is made of ‘plastic’
I have spoken with Hyundai today and their after sales team will be updating the manual with guidance on how to access the impeller to remove blockages. The revised manual will be available to download from their and my website as soon as it becomes available.

Hi David, pleased you found the review helpful.
Please see the video below that my help in terms of unblocking the chute.

Please let me know how you get on.
It says in the instructions that you can unblock the tube by ‘unscrewing the impellor knob’ – what and where is this located.
Thanks
Hi Robert
Thanks for your comment.
The impeller window is not available on this model of leaf blower.
I have spoken with Hyundai today and they are aware of this incorrect information within the manual and correcting this.
I will post an update here when the revised manual has been updated.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Fiona, many thanks for your comments.
Yes the variable power does mean that it can be adjusted so it can be used carefully on gravel paths.
You do need to be careful, however, as there are many variable factors i.e. heavier wet leaves, size of gravel that will influence the job too.
From my experience this is a good leaf blower. I will share a video in the next couple of weeks. I will include this in my video too.
Thanks again
Mark

Hi Ivan, many thanks for your comment. Just in a process of finalising the video, it will be available in the next few weeks.

Hi Andrew
I did ask Hyundai about this as I was also not sure what this clip is for.
They told me it was for hanging the blower on the wall of the shed or garage on a hook.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Mark
