Summary
Murray is a relatively well-known lawn mower brand that’s hailed for its affordable quality. I reviewed the Murray EC320 but this year, they’ve given that model an upgrade and presented us with the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. I’ve been checking it out and I have to say that I’m very impressed with its performance and cut quality, especially given that this lawn mower is less than £90!
With a 2 in 1 mowing function, a large capacity grass box, easy to use features, and a powerful motor, the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is a valuable addition to your garden tool arsenal.
In my Murray LE320 Electric Mower review, I’ll be taking a closer look at the features and giving you the lowdown on what’s hot and what’s not about this model. I’ll also help you to figure out whether the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is the right tool for you and your garden.
Main Features
- 32cm cutting deck
- Durable plastic design
- 3 cutting heights
- 27 litre grass catcher
- Rear discharge function
- 1200 watt motor
- Overload protection
- Ergonomic soft grip handles
Power System
The Murray LE320 Electric Mower comes equipped with a 1200 watt motor that runs at 3500 rpm. This is what you’d consider standard for the size of this machine and gives it the get up and go that you need to cover lawns up to 300 square metres.
What really made the Murray LE320 Electric Mower stand out to me, however, in terms of power, was the overload protection function. This is an excellent safety feature but not something that you see on all mowers, especially at this price point.
The beauty of a corded electric lawn mower is that it’s so easy to maintain. It really is just a matter of cleaning any debris and grass clippings from the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. When you’re ready to mow, just plug it in and get going.
Performance
If you’re looking for a lawn mower that offers efficiency and ease of use while still delivering a clean cut then you’ll find it in the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. I really like how easily this lawn mower glides across the lawn and doesn’t leave any unsightly patches.
Having looked at user reviews, I noticed people talking about what a great cut the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is even on the lowest setting. When cutting through longer grass, that powerful motor does all the hard work and makes it so much easier to maintain your garden.
For such an affordable price, it really surprised me how well the Murray LE320 Electric Mower performed. I’d go as far as saying that it makes cutting the grass completely effortless.
Blades
If you’re familiar with the previous EC320 model then you’ll be pleased to know that the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is an upgraded version of this and will replace it. As with the previous model, the LE320 comes with a 32cm cutting deck which makes it ideal for smaller lawns up to 300 square metres.
However, if you’ve got a lawn that’s any larger than this, don’t fret! Murray also has a 38 cm version of this model that’s got a couple of additional features such as more cutting heights and a larger grass box. This model is ideal for lawns up to 500 square metres.
The deck is made from plastic but that doesn’t make it any less robust than a steel-deck mower. In fact, the Murray LE320 Electric Mower feels very durable and can take a lot of use without sustaining any damage. All the while, it remains lightweight and easy to use.
Handles
One of the things that Murray boasted in the EC320 was the padded handles but this appears to have been taken away in the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. I was sorry to see this as losing this feature can make mowing less comfortable.
In previous models, the starter came in the form of a bar that ran the length of the handle. However, it seems that Murray has changed this for the LE320 and there’s now a right hand starter. But that’s still easy enough to grab hold off without leaving you uncomfortable or having to overreach.
Note that the handles also fold down, making the Murray LE320 Electric Mower much easier to store when not in use.
Height Adjustment
The Murray LE320 Electric Mower comes with a choice of three cutting height settings ranging between 25 mm and 65 mm. This isn’t the most versatile, especially when you consider that the LE380 comes with five height settings.
That said, for such an affordable price, I think it’s reasonable that some features had to be lessened and these cutting heights are still more than enough to maintain a small lawn.
Switching between cutting heights is quick and simple thanks to the lever on each wheel. You can alter the height in seconds and there’s no tools required which is always a plus point. That said, the larder model does benefit from a central cutting height lever which makes life even easier.
Grass Box Capacity
If you want fewer interruptions when mowing the lawn then it’s good news; the Murray LE320 Electric Mower comes with a 27 litre grass box that holds a serious amount of clippings.
But I was slightly surprised since the previous model came with a 30 litre grass box so I’m unsure as to why they’ve reduced the size on the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. While three litres might not sound like a big deal, it can be when you’re mowing on lawns at the bigger end of the scale.
What I love about the grass box is its hybrid design. The sides are made from mesh which allows for better airflow while the top is made from plastic, giving the box more structure. When you’re not using it, those soft sides allow you to collapse it down which means less storage space is needed.
It’s worth noting that the big brother of the Murray LE320 Electric Mower, the LE380, comes with a far more substantial grass box which can hold up to 45 litres and even comes with a full indicator.
Practicalities
One of the best things about the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is that it’s super lightweight at just 8 kg. If you struggle with larger, more bulky mowers then this is a great alternative without having to sacrifice on build quality.
It’s also so easy to manoeuvre which makes it ideal for gardens with obstacles on the lawn such as flower beds or lawn ornaments.
If you’re not keen on using the grass catcher then I have more good news: this is a 2 in 1 lawn mower that also boasts a rear discharge chute. I think versatility when you’re cutting the lawn is super important and even though this is a more affordable machine, the manufacturer hasn’t scrimped on features.
Many people complain about lawn mowers being too noisy but that’s not going to be a problem with the Murray LE320 Electric Mower since it produces sound no louder than 96db. If you’re keen to find a machine that’s going to create less noise pollution, this is well worth considering.

Should You Buy This Model – Verdict
For anyone that’s looking for an affordable way to maintain their lawn, Murray is a brand I’d consider. While there are a few things that have been taken away compared to the previous EC320 model, the Murray LE320 Electric Mower has a lot to offer without the need to break the bank.
People with smaller lawns that just want something to keep their grass in check would certainly benefit from using the Murray LE320 Electric Mower. However, if you do have a slightly bigger lawn or want a couple of extra features then I’d recommend upgrading to the larger LE380.
Conclusion
While the Murray LE320 Electric Mower is a pretty simple lawn mower, it does have some nice features that give it that extra edge. It’s affordable, lightweight, easy to use and, most importantly, reliable so there’s really not too much to complain about.
I would have liked to have seen a little more thought going into the use comfort in terms of having a padded handle and it would have been nice if they hadn’t downsized the grass box. However, these certainly aren’t things that would put me off using the Murray LE320 Electric Mower for day to day mowing tasks.
