Summary
The Murray EC370 is an electric corded lawn mower that has a respectable 1600 W motor and is designed for lawns up to 500m2. This model has a 37cm blade and a 40 litre grass collection bag. There are 7 cutting heights to choose from that range from 25mm to 75mm that are easily adjusted via a single side mounted lever.
The Murray EC370 is provided with 10 metre cable and 5 year limited warranty.
I’ve been spending a bit of time looking at the Murray EC370 electric lawn mower and I must admit that I have been impressed by this mower’s features, as I was when I reviewed the smaller brother Murray EC320. One of the first things you will pick up on, is how affordable this lawn mower is. When you also consider what it has to offer, you’ll see what excellent value for money it is.
The Murray EC370 benefits from a good range of 7 cutting heights as well as a mulching plug which gives you some great versatility when tending to your garden. What’s more, it’s brilliantly easy to manoeuvre and comes with an ergonomic padded handle for ultimate comfort.
With a great 1600 watt motor and coverage for lawns up to 500 square metres, there’s a lot to get excited about. In my Murray EC370 review, I’ll be taking a deep dive and telling you everything you need to know about this handy little machine.

Power System

The Murray EC370 benefits from a 1600 watt motor with soft start. This is a good amount of power for a lawn mower of this size and while there are others that are slightly more powerful, you must keep in mind the affordable nature of this machine. Moreover, the power is strong enough that the Murray EC370 easily tackles longer or taller grass making it ideal for most domestic purposes.
You will get a standard 10 metre power cable on this electric mower. While this may be the average length, it is a decent size and will allow you to cover a small to medium size garden without too many issues.

- Murray EC320: 1200w
Performance
This is a push lawn mower that features grass combs at the side of the cutting deck. This is great if you are looking for something that will cut closer to the edge of the lawn. Minimising the amount of work you need to do around the edges after mowing, this feature offers brilliant convenience. The 1600w motor works well with the 37cm blade, and as mentioned above, provides a good clean cut, even on damp and longer grass.
The grass collection was effective, thanks in part to that 1600w motor, but also the design of the hybrid mesh grass collection bag. The good airflow also ensured that the grass compaction was also what you would expect from an electric mower, it did not disappoint.
The only issue I noticed, is that this mower is a little noisier than other electric mowers I have tested. Murray quote a 96 dbA sound level which is indeed a little higher at deck level than some other brands such as Bosch.
Deck and Blade
The plastic cutting deck may be slightly less durable than mowers that have a steel deck but that doesn’t mean that the Murray EC370 isn’t a robust enough little machine. If it is being used for domestic gardening, you shouldn’t run into too many problems.
With a 37cm cutting width, the Murray EC370 is suitable for medium sized gardens that measure up to 500m².

- Murray EC320: 32cm – 300m²
Handles

Ergonomic padded handles make using the Murray EC370 much more comfortable when comparing it to some of its competitors. The design means that the handles offer easy access to the controls and the soft grip makes pushing it around a dream. Furthermore, this handle design means that vibrations are reduced so you get an even more comfortable experience.
To add to the excellent functionality of the handle, it will fold down so that storing the Murray EC370 becomes much easier, especially if you are pushed for space. Oh, and did I mention there are quick release levers at both the mid and lower points making the process that bit easier and quicker.
Wheels
If your garden is not completely even then you need a lawn mower that is going to give you excellent stability and the larger rear wheels on the Murray EC370 do this perfectly. But in addition to this, the wheels also make the mower much easier to move around even when you’re working on uneven or bumpy terrain.
- Front wheels: 16,5cm
- Rear wheels: 25cm
Height Adjustment
Having a good selection of cutting heights is essential for tackling your lawn no matter what the conditions. For such an affordable mower, you might be forgiven for thinking that the choice wouldn’t be that varied but with seven cutting heights ranging between 25mm and 75mm, this is certainly a versatile piece of equipment.
These cutting heights are easy to switch and a central lever allows the user to choose the most suitable height in seconds.
Grass Collection Bag

The Murray EC370 comes with a decently sized 40 litre grass bag. This is a hybrid grass bag with a hard lid and fabric sides. The benefit of this is that the air flow is massively improved so the grass compacts much more densely. This means that you then don’t need to empty it as often and the included “full flap” indicates when it does.
Moreover, thanks to the fabric sides, the grass bag will collapse making storing it that much simpler.
The collection bag attaches securely and is removed as expected. The smooth surface of the base helps to ensure the cuttings empty with no obstructions. The handle on top of the collection bag also helps with the emptying process and is well positioned. The mesh sides are not the best I’ve seen, so care will be needed around thorn bushes etc. as it is prone to damage and tears.
Murray EC370 Practicalities

One of the things that instantly jumped out at me about this lawn mower was that it comes with an incredible 5 year warranty. That is something to get very excited about because, while I am confident about the quality of Murray lawn mowers, it’s always good to have this lengthy cover in the event that anything goes wrong. Plus, it shows that the brand has its own confidence in its products; couple this with the great customer support and you’re onto a winner.
Being a corded electric mower, the Murray EC370 is low maintenance. It is simply a case of plug and go. This makes it ideal for people with a busy lifestyle who do not want the hassle of maintaining a petrol mower. Furthermore, there’s no risk of the power running out in the middle of a mow as you may get with a battery cordless model.
Safety Features
- There is a release button on the right side of the handrail, which needs pressing if you want to activate the throttle.
- The motor has an automated overheating switch that activates if the operator tries to push the mower too hard.
- The deck is plastic, which helps to reduce the noise of the blade from 96 decibels to 78.5 decibels at the handrail.
Roller (Stripes)
The Murray EC370 does not have a roller nor a striper.
Mulching

The Murray EC370 comes with a mulching plug as standard. This is an ideal way to deliver essential nutrients back into the lawn and allows you to fertilise it without any additional products.
However, you should keep in mind that if you opt for the smaller EC320 version of this mower, you do not get a mulching plug with this. If you want a larger cutting diameter and the convenience of cordless, then you might choose the Murray cordless IQ18WM37 or the IQ18WM44 which have 37cm and 44cm cutting widths respectively, and both come with an optional mulching plug.
The Murray EC320 does NOT have the ability to mulch the grass cuttings.
The Murray EC370 DOES have the ability to mulch the grass cuttings, it is supplied with the mulching plug.

Should You Buy This Model – Verdict

I think that the Murray EC370 is a great lawn mower for people who want something with a little more versatility but who don’t want to have to maintain a petrol mower. You get a great amount of features that allow you to tackle a variety of lawn conditions all with the convenience and consistent power of electricity.
Moreover, for anyone who has a small to medium sized garden, the Murray EC370 offers a fast and easy way to stay on top of the lawn mowing. It is super easy and comfortable to move around and being relatively lightweight at 14kg, it is ideal for people who might struggle with a heavier, more cumbersome mower.
However, if you have a much smaller garden, that perhaps measures up to 300m², then the Murray EC370’s younger brother, the EC320 might be more suitable. This one comes with a 1200 watt motor and a 32cm cutting width but you also lose the mulching plug which is a bit of a pain.
Conclusion
The Murray EC370 is a lightweight and easy to use lawn mower that benefits from some pretty versatile features. I really liked the fact that, while it is affordable, it gives you excellent diversity and is suitable for year-round lawn care with the added convenience of reliable electric power.
The mower isn’t the most durable looking thing on the market, but with a five year warranty, this isn’t something that you need to be overly concerned about and it’s probably a lot more robust than it’s appearance would give it credit for.
With seven cutting heights, two mowing modes and features that make this a comfortable and enjoyable mower to use, I have to take my hat off to the brand on the creation of the Murray EC370.
