With spring almost on its way, it’s getting closer and closer to that first mow of the year. It’s always an exciting time being able to get outside and tidy up the garden but I also think it’s the perfect opportunity to invest in a new mower.
While cordless mowers are popular, they do have their downsides such as the risk of the battery giving up halfway through the mow. That’s why a lot of people still opt for the traditional corded electric lawn mower and in 2024, there are some great machines on the market.
Whether you have a compact garden or something much larger, there’s a corded lawn mower for you. In my rundown of the best corded electric lawn mowers for 2024, I’ll introduce you to some of my favourites.

Best Value For Small Lawns – Lawnmaster MEB1434M
For smaller gardens, there’s no need to go overboard when it comes to buying a corded lawn mower. But that doesn’t mean you don’t want something that’ll make cutting the grass quick and easy.
That’s why I chose the Lawnmaster MEB1434M as it’s got the perfect amount of features to make tackling a small lawn a simple job.
With a 34 cm deck and a 32 litre grass box, it’s ideal for small lawns but you’re still getting a powerful 1400 watt motor which means the Lawnmaster MEB1434M will still make light work of dense or long grass.
You’ve got a choice of 6 cutting heights that range between 20 mm and 70 mm so you can get a nice low cut if that’s what you’re going for. Plus, with a rear roller, you can create that striped effect, which I love.
The build quality of the Lawnmaster MEB1434M is excellent, especially when you consider the price point and I think that’s important when investing in this type of tool.
The hybrid grass box provides improved air flow and when I tested this mower, I found that it picked up the clippings really well which adds to the ease of use. However, I was a little disappointed to see that the Lawnmaster MEB1434M didn’t come with a mulching plug which would have been a nice additional touch.
A good alternative to this mower would be the Hyundai HYM3200E which comes with a 32 cm deck and a 1000 watt motor. However, I stand by the fact that I think the Lawnmaster is the superior option here.

Best Value For Medium Lawns – Mountfield Princess 34
For lawns up to 300 square metres, I think the Mountfield Princess 24 is a fantastic corded lawn mower. It’s equipped with a 34 cm deck and a powerful 1400 watt motor which makes getting through longer grass a breeze.
The build quality of the Mountfield Princess 34 is excellent and I think that makes this brilliant value for money. What’s more, it’s really comfortable to use thanks to the ergonomic handle and the fact that it comes with an extra long 15 m power cable. Usually, corded mowers only come with a 10 m power cable so this is a nice touch that makes the Mountfield Princess 34 stand out from the crowd.
It comes with a mulching plug which allows for greater versatility in the way that you mow your lawn. What I also really like is that it comes with a decent sized 35 litre grass box. However, I should point out that this is a little tricky to assemble but then, you only have to do this once.
The Mountfield Princess 34 comes with a choice of 6 cutting heights between 25 mm and 75 mm which are easy to adjust thanks to the central adjustment.
If this one doesn’t quite take your fancy or you need something slightly bigger then the Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C comes with a 36 cm deck and a slightly more powerful 1500 watt motor.

Best Value For Larger Lawns – Bosch AdvancedRotak 650
If you have a larger lawn that’s up to 500 square metres then the Bosch AdvancedRotak650 might be just what you’re looking for. I absolutely love the quality of this mower as well as the many advanced features which make lawn mowing a cinch.
For starters, you’ve got the Ergoslide handle which allows you to set the handle to a comfortable height. What’s more, the Ergoflex handle design means it’s just so much easier to use, especially when you consider there are four starters so you can manoeuvre the mower in many ways without letting go of the power.
The AdvancedRotak650 comes with a super powerful 1700 watt motor and a 40 cm deck so you’ll tackle large, dense lawns in no time. Plus, with a 50 litre grass catcher, you won’t need to keep stopping.
The cutting height adjustment on the AdvancedRotak650 is truly innovative and features a central button for swift changes between the seven cutting heights that range between 20 mm and 80 mm. Check out my YouTube video for a full explanation on how this works.
I have to say, however, that I was a little disappointed that Bosch didn’t include a longer power cable. Considering this mower is made for larger lawns, the standard 10 m power cord might not be long enough so you’ll probably need an extension lead. Still, this doesn’t detract from the other fantastic features that the AdvancedRotak 650 has to offer.
If you want an alternative to this lawn mower then I would recommend the Lawnmaster MEB1840M which also features a 40 cm deck but has 3 in 1 cutting options and a slightly more powerful 1800 watt motor.
