Well, that’s where the electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 really comes into its own. It’s not a showy lawn mower and it doesn’t have all the mod cons, but what it does have is beautiful simplicity. It’ll help you maintain a neat and tidy lawn with very little fuss and will not cost the earth.
I’ve been giving it the once over and in my electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 review, I’ll be letting you in on what I’ve discovered. So, let’s get started.

Power System
The electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 runs on a 1000 watt motor. Alright, this isn’t the most powerful tool in the world, but it’s certainly got enough get up and go to handle a smaller, level lawn. It would probably struggle on more rugged terrain, but that really isn’t what it’s designed for. If you want something that’s going to whizz around your flat garden quickly while still delivering a good cut, then the Einhell GC-EM 1032 is worth considering.
Remember there is always the larger more powerful Einhell GE-EM 1233 with its 1250 watt motor and slightly larger deck of 33cm.

Performance
The electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 is a no-frills, no-nonsense piece of equipment designed for the modern hobby gardener who doesn’t have time to mess about.
It’s easy to manoeuvre and cuts the grass nicely. It isn’t designed for massively challenging tasks. For example, if you have let your lawn grow wildly out of control or if you have a very bumpy lawn, then it wouldn’t excel. But for general day to day maintenance, it gives a delightful performance.
Deck and Blade
What I love about this lawn mower is that it’s so lightweight and that is thanks to its plastic deck. Now, let me start by pointing out that plastic is never going to be as durable as steel, but what Einhell has used here is a superior material. The high impact resistant plastic is more than robust enough to cope with day-to-day gardening.
Under the deck is smooth with no obstacles, so cleaning will be that much easier.
Height Adjustment
Now, I know I keep going on about how the electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 is a simple lawn mower and that is, for the most part, a good thing. However, I have to say that I was a little disappointed by the lack of choice when it comes to cutting heights.
There are only three options which is minimal by anybody’s standards. I could put up with this as you’ve got settings between 20mm and 60mm which should meet most average needs. But then when you learn that you must adjust the height of each wheel separately, it suddenly becomes far more of a faff than you’d like.
A lot of modern mowers have a single lever that’s used to adjust the height, and this is something you’ve probably been used to. Moving to this outdated method is something of a step back in my eyes. However, if you do not adjust the height of your mower that often, then perhaps this is not going to be a problem for you.
Handles
Sometimes, the handles on a lawn mower are quite an exciting thing to review as some of the more showy models have some nice features here. However, with the Einhell GC-EM 1032, just like all the other aspects, the handles are kept simple.
The controls are within easy reach so that makes the machine much more user friendly. You’ll also benefit from being able to fold the handle when you’re done, which lessens the amount of storage space you’ll need.
Cutting Diameter
The Einhell GC-EM 1032 has a 32cm cutting width. This makes it better suited to smaller lawns. Einhell recommends anything up to 300 square metres and I’d agree with this. Anything larger and you will struggle.
Grass Collection Box
Being a small lawn mower, it won’t come as a surprise that the Einhell GC-EM 1032 comes with a 30 litre grass box. This isn’t the largest on the market, not by a long shot, but why would you need anything bigger? This is the perfect size for one of the smallest deck sizes.
What’s more, since this is a plastic grass box, it is more difficult to store as it will not fold down on itself. The last thing you’d want would be a huge plastic grass box and nowhere to store it. What’s more, the material means that the grass box is more durable than a fabric one.
Wheels
While the height adjustment aspect of the Einhell GC-EM 1032 has let it down somewhat, it really redeems itself where the wheels are concerned.
It’s fitted with four 140mm plastic wheels that are wide and lightweight. This design means that they’ll put far less pressure on your grass. Normally, you’d be looking for larger rear wheels, but since this is not a mower that’s designed to deal with rugged terrain, that’s a vastly unnecessary feature.
These smaller wheels are just right for the Einhell GC-EM 1032 and make it incredibly easy to manoeuvre.
Practicalities
I mentioned earlier that the Einhell GC-EM 1032 is a very lightweight piece of equipment and that’s one of the reasons I am so impressed by it. At just a smidge over 9kg, this is perfect for people of all strengths and abilities. It won’t be a mission to push around the garden and lifting it to move or store it won’t put your back out.
What’s more, if you’re looking for a lawn mower that isn’t going to break the bank, the electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 is a worthy contender. At just under £80, you’ll struggle to find anything else that performs as well and remains such excellent value for money.
- This mower has a single-side throttle, which is on the right-hand side of the machine, so lefties may find it uncomfortable to use for long periods.
- The mower uses a single lift blade. You can sharpen this blade, and replacements are inexpensive and easy to find.
- The deck is plastic, which has the advantage of not rusting, is strong and robust and is light to keep the overall weight down to a minimum.
- Being a corded electric mower, maintenance is on the low side, and there are fewer parts that can go wrong. What’s more the lawn mower needs little to no preparation for winter storage.
- The handle double folds for ease of storage.
- All four wheels need to be adjusted separately by unscrewing each wheel, not something that is particularly practical.

There is no roller or striper on this model from Einhell.
Mulching
There is no mulching option on the Einhell GC-EM 1032. The next model up, larger more powerful Einhell GE-EM 1233, does come supplied with a mulching plug and blade.

Should You Buy This Model – Verdict
If you have a huge garden with slopes, bumps and a lot of other obstacles, then unfortunately, you’re in the wrong place; the electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 isn’t going to be right for you. However, if you’ve got a smaller and simple piece of lawn, then this is an affordable bit of kit that’ll get the job done with no hassle.
I also think that this would make a great first lawn mower for new homeowners, provided that the conditions of the garden are right. Because of the great value for money, you’ll be able to get to grips with using a lawn mower and familiarise yourself with the equipment without going into debt.
Conclusion
The Einhell GC-EM 1032 is small and some might say, unassuming, but that isn’t to say that it’s not a great little mower. It’s perfect for maintaining smaller spaces and doesn’t have the hassle of having to get used to loads of intricate features.
It does lack in cutting height options and what it does have is tricky to adjust, but that’s really the only downside I can see. If you want an affordable and easy to use tool, the electric Einhell GC-EM 1032 is it.
