Cordless mowing is one of the greatest conveniences of modern times and I’m yet to come across a lawn mower that is quite as convenient as this one. Kärcher has given us a simplistic tool that has a range of features that make it perfect for the everyday needs of the modern homeowner.
With a cutting width of 33cm, this lawn mower is ideal for small to medium sized gardens that measure up to 250m²; there is a larger version which I will introduce to you later, but for many people, this one is the perfect size. What’s more, with a 2-in-1 mowing function, your garden will reap the benefits of natural fertiliser created from mulching.
In my Kärcher LMO 18-33 review I will be looking over all of the features of this machine as well as diving into the pros and cons, to help you make a more informed choice on whether this is the best garden appliance for you.

Power System
The Kärcher LMO 18-33 comes with a powerful 18v 5.0Ah lithium-ion battery, one of the major benefits of this is that you get an excellent running time. In this case, you will get up to 24 minutes of power, which should be more than enough to get the entire lawn mowed in one sitting, as long as your lawn is not larger than 250m². What’s more, this battery is part of the Kärcher battery platform, meaning it can be shared across a variety of other tools from the same manufacturer.
As well as this, you will receive a fast charger with your purchase which allows you to charge the battery to 80% in as little as 94 minutes. For a full charge, you will have to wait 143 minutes, that’s still acceptable but not the fastest on the market.

Performance
One of the things that I really loved about this lawn mower was how easily manoeuvrable it was. It is incredibly lightweight and it is just a pleasure to mow with. In addition, the Kärcher LMO 18-33 features grass combs at the side of the deck that guide the grass into the path of the blade, therefore allowing you to cut right close to the edge. This means that you won’t need to mess around as much with trimmers after you have finished mowing.

Deck and Blade
The Kärcher LMO 18-33 features a plastic deck which is ideal for outdoor use since the material is lightweight and yet very resistant to the elements.
The sharp metal blade offers a clean and precise cut and what I really liked was that Kärcher offers a great selection of spare parts including these blades. Even when your blade dulls down, you’ll easily be able to get your hands on a replacement. You will also be able to purchase additional 5.0Ah batteries although, you should keep in mind that these don’t come cheap and retail around £99. It’s not unusual for a 5.0Ah battery, but certainly not the most affordable option. (you may be surprised to learn that there are many mowers currently on the market where it is impossible to purchase spare blades and batteries)
It is also worth me pointing out that this easy access to spare parts doesn’t end there. Kärcher has incredible customer support which is something that I always look for in a brand.
Cutting Diameter
If your garden measures up to 250m² then the 33cm cutting width of this model will be perfect for your needs. However, if you feel that you may need something a little larger, then the Kärcher LMO 18-33 has an older brother, the Kärcher LMO 18-36 which comes with a 36cm cutting width making it suitable for gardens up to 350m².
As well as the larger cutting width, the Kärcher LMO 18-36 also features a slightly larger grass box at 45 litres and slightly different options when it comes to cutting heights. While it is also very slightly heavier, at 13.27kg, most of the features are very similar, so whichever model you choose, you can feel confident that it will get the job done effectively.
Height Adjustment
While I am a big fan of the Kärcher LMO 18-33, one thing that I felt slightly let it down was the choice of cutting heights. Usually, on a mower of this size, you would expect to see a little more versatility, so with a choice of just four cutting heights, I was a little surprised. These heights range between 35mm and 65mm which again is a bit of a disappointment. 35mm is relatively high for the lowest cutting height and Kärcher could have included a smaller cutting height, that said, it will prevent you from cutting the lawn too short which can in turn be bad for its health. Not to mention that a short lawn will require more work in terms of watering and fertilisation.
Handles
A lot of people overlook the handles on a mower when checking out the various features, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to look at what they offer. In the case of the Kärcher LMO 18-33, the handles are one of the best features in terms of practicalities.
For starters, you have the option to adjust the height which makes mowing a much more comfortable experience. Moreover, they are foam padded to prevent sores from forming, vibration, and come with switches on either side for added convenience.
When you’re done, the handle folds down to make the mower incredibly easy to store. There are quick release clips at the lower deck point, making it a breeze to put everything back up when you’re ready to use it again.
Grass Collection Box
The Kärcher LMO 18-33 comes with a 35 litre grass box which is just the right size considering the cutting width and the garden size it is designed to work with. You’ll also notice that there is a grass full indicator, which is something I love to see on a mower. It takes out a lot of the guesswork and the integrated handle makes emptying so much simpler.
Practicalities
All cordless lawn mowers are practical by design owing to the fact there is no power cord. This Kärcher LMO 18-33 cordless lawn mower is also compact with its smaller 33cm deck, has the ability to mulch the grass cuttings and power share its batteries with a wide range of other Kärcher 18v tools, making this a very practical mower in such a small package.
Safety Features
For ultimate safe operation, the Kärcher LMO 18-33 comes with a safety key. This must be inserted into the battery compartment before the mower will start.
There is also the standard Operator Presence Lever found on all cordless mowers.
Roller (Stripes)
The Kärcher LMO 18-33 does not come with a rear roller. This is a little disappointing since I love this feature for creating a striped lawn. On the other hand, since this one does have mulching mode, it isn’t the best idea to use these two features together, especially when the grass is damp as the smaller mulched clippings may just stick to the roller. If it is a choice between a striped or a healthy lawn, the latter would definitely be my preferred outcome.
Mulching
This is a 2-in-1 lawn mower that comes with an easy to insert mulching plug. This option allows you to deliver your grass clippings back to the lawn, which will then act as a natural fertiliser. This also has the added benefit of you not having to dispose of the grass cuttings, and is therefore more eco friendly.

Should You Buy This Model?
I would recommend this lawn mower for people who want a hassle-free experience and the convenience of cordless. The Kärcher LMO 18-33 is a great compact mower and while it does have its minor faults in terms of limited cutting heights and the lack of a rear roller, this isn’t the end of the world since it offers excellent user friendliness and performance.
Being so lightweight, I would also suggest this as being the perfect solution for older people or those who otherwise struggle with cumbersome equipment. It moves around effortlessly, so if you have a lot of obstacles in your garden then this might be what you have been waiting for.
To give you some guidance on which type of customer would suit this model best, below I’ve included a list of attributes they would fall under:
- People with gardens up to 250m² in size.
- People that like the option to mulch the grass cuttings.
- People who like a quicker charge option to 80% (94 minutes).
- Those with limited storage as the handles and grass box fold flat.

Of course this is open to interpretation, so if you don’t fall under every single category then don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll still love this product. It has great features providing practicality and performance.
Conclusion
The Kärcher LMO 18-33 is an affordable lawn mower that comes with a range of basic features as well as some little added extras that are perfect for domestic lawn mowing. One of the most outstanding things about this machine is that it runs on some extremely powerful 18v 5.0Ah batteries, which give it the ultimate boost and a great running time. Couple this with the fast charger and you’ve got a power system to be envious of.
Moreover, this lawn mower boasts a 2-in-1 mowing function that gives you much greater versatility when tending to your lawn. It’s lightweight, easy to use and delivers excellent results thanks to the sharp blades and cut to edge feature. Don’t forget that you are purchasing a “Kärcher” machine, and as already mentioned the support and spare parts availability are second to none.
Overall, while there are a few setbacks, I’d say this was a mower worth investing in.
