Summary
The Cobra GTRM43 is an electric lawn mower that has a 43cm (17″) cutting deck and comes supplied with a large 50 litre grass collection bag and a rear roller for a striped lawn appearance. This mower has a wide range of cutting heights (7 stages, 20mm to 75mm), weighs 19kg and is provided with a Cobra 2 year warranty.
The Cobra GTRM range features four powerful and effective cutting machines, each designed for a different sized garden. The Cobra GTRM43 electric lawn mower is the largest model in the collection and boasts a 43cm cutting width, an 1800w motor as well as a range of other features that are perfect for tackling a bigger lawn.
The corded electric lawn mower is ideal for people who want something convenient and easy to use and is not going to cost the earth. It is not overly complicated and provides you with enough power to maintain your lawn to a good standard without the added hassle of obtaining an engineering degree just to get to grips with the operation!
In my Cobra GTRM43 review, I will be breaking down the features and introducing you to this handy lawn mower that’s going to make your life a lot easier. I’ll also be looking at any shortcomings with this electric mower from Cobra.

Power System and Motor on the Cobra GTRM43
Straight off the bat, you can appreciate that this is an incredibly powerful lawn mower with an 1800 watt motor that will ensure you get a beautiful cut from the blades, even when the lawn has been left to grow long. But not only is this a very powerful machine, it is also the most powerful out of the entire GTRM electric range.
However, if you aren’t in the market for something with quite as much get up and go then there are smaller models to choose from. For people with medium sized gardens, the GTRM40 gives you a 40cm cutting deck along with 1600w of power. Similarly, you would get 1600w but with a 38cm cutting deck from the GTRM38; both of these mowers have very similar features apart from the size of the deck.
For those with very small gardens, you might opt for the more compact 1300w, 34cm GTRM34. Again, this boasts many of the same features so you aren’t missing out on anything important.
It is a shame that Cobra only provide a 10 metre cable with this mower, despite being designed for larger lawns. Yes I know 10 metres is pretty much standard for electric mowers, it just would have been nice to have a little extra. Naturally, unless you have multiple sockets around the lawn, you will need to use an extension cable. Don’t forget that either way you should be using and RCD for added safety.

Cobra GTRM43 Features In Detail
Performance
One of the things that users have been raving about where the Cobra GTRM43 is concerned is how efficient it is. This is the main reason that I would advocate this product for people who want something that is no-nonsense; it’ll get the grass cut quickly and cleanly.
Even better than this, the Cobra GTRM43 cuts to the edge thanks to the four wheel design as well as an incorporated rear roller; but I’ll look at this feature in a little more detail later on.
This is a hand propelled mower which is relatively easy to turn and move thanks, in part, to the larger rear wheels and the full width starter bar allowing for single handed left and right turns. However, since it is slightly heavier than some competing products at 19kg, it can be a little tricky if you’re lacking in strength.
Deck and Blade
The Cobra GTRM43 features a plastic deck which is perfect for outdoor use. It won’t rust and is highly weather resistant. While it doesn’t have the same strength as steel, many modern manufacturers are now favouring high-quality polymers that certainly give metal a run for its money.
The cutting width is 43cm and the metal rotary blade ensures full coverage and provides an effective mulching ability (more on mulching later). This is ideal for larger lawns and will help to make sure that the job is done as quickly as possible.

Height Adjustment
This Cobra GTRM43 comes with a choice of seven cutting heights. This is great for tackling more versatile needs and will allow you to work with different lengths of grass as well as in varying conditions. It’s great that Cobra have included a lower 20mm height setting, this will please many of you out there looking for a bowling green finish to your lawn.
The heights range between 20mm and 75mm and can be easily adjusted with the single lever. No tools are required and you can move through the settings in mere seconds.
Handles
A major selling point of the Cobra GTRM43 is the handles. While they might not be the main event, they definitely have a lot to get excited about. If you have found that mowing the lawn causes you discomfort then the soft grip handles will be a welcome addition. The controls are easy to reach and there is an option to adjust the handle to any angle, making mowing far more comfortable (this angle adjustment is not available on the smaller models).
What’s more, the quick release mechanism allows you to fold the handle at dual points. This makes storing the mower so much more simple and is great for people who are limited on shed space.

Wheels
It is great to see that Cobra have added larger rear wheels across the range of their electric lawn mowers. Larger rear wheels ensure that turning the mower is far less hassle and better over uneven terrain, despite its heavier size.
Roller (Stripes)
As mentioned above, Cobra have added a rear roller to this GTRM43 mower to produce a striped lawn appearance. Just bear in mind that, as with all electric mowers, they are lightweight and will not produce defined and long lasting stripes that you would achieve with a heavy petrol mower.
One thing that really caught my attention about the Cobra GTRM43 is that it not only features this rear roller, but also comes supplied with a mulching option. It’s important to remember that if you are mulching the cuttings, ensure the grass is completely dry, otherwise the mulched damp grass cuttings will stick to the rear roller possibly causing an uneven cut.
Another advantage of the rear roller is far greater stability and over edge of the border cutting.
Mulching
Your lawn has versatile needs, so it is essential that your lawn mower can meet them. The good news is that the Cobra GTRM43 doesn’t only perform the traditional cut and collect method, but it also benefits from a mulching plug. This can be inserted into the back of the lawn mower and the grass clippings will be circulated around the cutting deck before being delivered back to the lawn. From here, they will inject important nutrients into the soil, giving your grass an important health boost.
Grass Collection Bag
The 50 litre grass box is the perfect complement to the 43cm cutting deck. This generous capacity means that you won’t be stopping every few minutes to empty, but there is very little guesswork involved as well. This is thanks to the full indicator that makes knowing when to empty so much easier!
Being a fabric grass collection bag, the Cobra GTRM43 is much easier to store. When you are finished mowing, the bag will flatten allowing you to store it even in the tightest spaces.

Cobra GTRM43 Pros and Cons
How Practical is the Cobra GTRM43
The Cobra GTRM43 comes with a 2 year warranty for domestic use. While I am confident that this lawn mower is reliable enough to stand the test of time, it certainly helps knowing that you are covered.
Another thing that I really liked about the Cobra GTRM43 is that it is an incredibly low-maintenance machine. Corded mowers don’t generally require a lot of upkeep, but this one can especially lay claim to that. It is easy to clean and features reliable parts that won’t require much attention.
Should You Buy the Cobra GTRM43?
The entire GTRM range would suit anyone who wants a hassle-free electric tool to maintain their garden, but this Cobra GTRM43 is best suited to people with larger lawns. If you have strength issues, however, I would suggest moving down a model or two, because this one is a little heavier than you might first expect for an electric mower.
I would also recommend this to people who want an affordable electric mower that doesn’t compromise on performance. Alright, it doesn’t boast the same performance as a petrol model, but then it also doesn’t come with such a large price tag and maintenance needs. It’s perfect for everyday domestic use.
Conclusion
After exploring the entire GTRM range from Cobra, I have to say that I have been wildly impressed. For such affordable pieces of equipment, you can’t go wrong, especially when you consider that these mowers have some great features like cut to edge performance, rear roller and a mulching plug as standard.
The Cobra GTRM43 is the largest in the range and is ideal for bigger lawns owned by people who want efficiency and convenience. With a large, foldable grass collection bag and adjustable handles as well as 7 cutting heights, you couldn’t ask for any more for your money.
Cobra are renowned for their build and component quality and this Cobra GTRM43 is no exception. What’s more, with this product you will also receive a 2 year domestic manufacturer’s warranty.
I just hope you can get your hands on one, they are so popular that stock sells out fast, good luck!
