Einhell GC-HM 30 Manual Hand Push Lawnmower Review – 30 cm Cutting Width
Summary
The Einhel GC-HM 30 is a lightweight push cylinder lawn mower weighing a mere 6.7kg which is perfect for small to medium sized lawns. Using its ball-bearing mowing spindle, I was able to precisely set the required cutting height using its ‘infinitely’ adjustable cutting height facility. The mower rarely struggles to move through the grass, even those lawns which are on the longer side, due to the remarkable range of cutting heights available which resulted in an outstanding cut and finish. The lawn mower is a sturdy piece of equipment and perfect for those neighbourhoods who demand clean, quiet and environment-friendly mowing.
Main Features
- Cutting width of 30cm for a speedy finish when cutting the lawn.
- Good range of cutting height options from 15mm to 42mm.
- Strong and lightweight hand mower with a roller for striped lawn appearance.
- Five hardened cylinder steel blades for a precise and sharp cut.
- Large 16 litre collection bag.
Blades
The Einhell GC-HM 30 is provided with five high quality steel blades resulting in a precise cut and professional finish.
Height Adjustment
The cutting height can be set between 15mm and 42mm using its ‘infinitely’ adjustable cutting height facility.
Cutting Diameter
This cutting width for this mower is 30cm which is quite standard for most push mowers and is ideal for gardeners with small to medium lawns.
Roller
The Einhel GC-HM 30 is supplied with a plastic roller of 45cm which is ideal for lawns up to 150m² in size. The large wheels are kind to your lawn and make the mower easier to push on uneven ground. The back roller produces traditional stripes as well as levelling out minor bumps.
Grass box capacity
The Einhell GC-HM 3 mower comes with a 16 litre mesh collection bag which is easy to attach and detach to make emptying easier. I found that the 16 litre basket offered plenty of storage.
Practicalities
I was able to easily assemble this mower within 15 to 20 minutes and found that the build quality was excellent. The mower’s compact size made it very simple to manoeuvre around obstacles in the garden. The handle unclips with no problems so that the mower can be folded down for storage in a small space or the back of the car.Einhell GC-HM 30 Hand Push Lawnmower User Manual Download

Should You Buy This Model?
In comparison to the Fiskars Staysharp plus reel mower, The Einhell GC-HM 30 mower comes highly recommended as it is such great value for money and is one of the best hand push cylinder lawnmowers available on the market. With its sturdy frame, it is extremely quiet to push owing to its ball-bearing mowing spindle. It will even help to lower your garden emissions as well give you great satisfaction when mowing your lawn. Should you need to use it for a longer period, then the mower is simple to operate, never feeling too heavy or clogging with grass. The only time it will struggle is with long, thick, or wet grass, which is the same outcome with the majority of push mowers!
We all know the advantages of cylinder mowers including the outstanding cut quality and low cutting heights when compared to other types of cutting methods. This is the main reason they are widely used by professionals on golf courses and lawn tennis courts.

I would like to point out that the drive wheels are hard plastic. As the mower is light in weight the cylinder does not rotate if one wheel strays onto a concrete/stone path as the hard plastic does not grip.
Thanks for sharing your experience of this mower, it is a point well made. Mark
My einhell manual fell to pieces after a year of little use ! Loved it initially but impossible to mend – not just loose screws but broken too
Thanks for your feedback, it is always good to know how these mowers stand the test of time. Was it stored inside?
Hi,
I’m considering purchasing an Einhell manual lawn mower (300 model). Some have straight handles, others have handles bending at the top. What is the difference please? Is one a more recent design, and is one better than the other?
Hi Anne
I don’t think there is much difference between straight bars and those that have a bend and no advantages, just personal preference.
These mowers are for light use so the handles are mostly basic with no padding. Anything more and the price starts creeping up and then worth considering other options like cordless. Wear some good gardening gloves for comfort and grip.
Let me know how you get on.
Thanks
Mark
