After hearing a lot of great things about the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower, I was really pleased to finally be able to test it out. I’m currently a massive fan of cordless mowers by Bosch and Worx so I was keen to find out how Einhell’s offering stands up to these brands.
In recent years, the technology behind cordless lawn mowers has meant a massive boost in sales with more people realising just how much freedom they give you. What’s more, without a cord holding you back, manoeuvring these mowers is so much easier. Since the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is such a lightweight and agile machine, I hoped that it would work well in my garden which has a lot of obstacles like flower beds and curved edges. However, I really wanted to see for myself if the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower would live up to this expectation.
In this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower review, I’ll be discussing what I found out when testing this mower and going through the features to help you make an informed decision on whether the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is the right machine for your garden. What I will say, before we even get started, is that Einhell’s tools are largely considered to be mid-range and this German manufacturer has a reputation for releasing some highly-recommended petrol mowers. Of course, if you want something more eco-friendly and low maintenance then cordless is the way to go.
Being mid-range, the price of the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is pretty fair, especially when you compare it to some of the other cordless mowers on the market. While I will be reviewing the 33 cm model, I’ll let you know that Einhell also makes this mower in a 30 cm model for smaller lawns.

Power System
I want to start by saying that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is supplied with PowerXchange batteries which means you can use them across the entire range of 36 v tools from this brand. If you’re keen to start using Einhell as your main tool manufacturer, this is certainly an attractive feature.
The batteries you get in the box are two 2.0Ah 18 v (totalling 36 v) lithium ion batteries. With these, you’ll typically get around 30 minutes run time unless you’re working with very wet or long grass. In this case, the run time may decrease slightly. Moreover, on dry, moderately long grass, the run time should give you enough to cover 200m².
Once drained, the batteries slide into the dual charger (which is included in the box) and take around 120 minutes to fully charge. I really like that there’s a clear light system on the charger that tells you whether the power is connected, when the battery is charged and if there is a problem. Einhell claims that you’ll get around 1000 charges from these batteries so that’s a decent amount of time you can expect from this machine.
Now, even though 200m² is a decently sized lawn, the 30 minute run time may not be enough if your grass is regularly left to grow or if you have a lot of obstacles to work around. But the great news is that Einhell does sell higher capacity batteries that will work with the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower. Plus, they’re comparable in price to brands like WORX and Bosch. If you want double the running time, I’d recommend upgrading to the 4.0Ah batteries which will give you around 60 minutes; check out the table below to see what options are available.
I mentioned that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower comes with two chargers which is great and certainly convenient. However, I have to say that when I compared the chargers to the one that comes with the WORX W6779E, I was a little disappointed.
It’s not that the Einhell charger doesn’t perform as well, that’s not my concern. But the design is a little trickier to use because the chargers are separate. With the WORX charger, it comes as one sturdy unit with a single plug that can be easily mounted to the wall so it’s just neater and more convenient. However, this is a minor gripe and isn’t something that would be enough to put me off the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower. You can take a look at my video review to see the charger in action.
Assembly
Taking the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower out of the box was quick and easy, as you’ll see from my YouTube video. It took me no longer than five minutes to put everything together and assembly didn’t require any tools.
It’s just a case of screwing the handles onto the mower and then sliding the grass box into place.

Blades
With a 33 cm cutting deck, the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is intended for small to medium sized lawns. If your garden is any more than 200m² then I think you’ll struggle with this as it just won’t provide the coverage or run time that you need. What’s more, since the grass collection box is only 30 litres, you’d have to stop to empty far more times than is convenient on a larger lawn.
For lawns up to 200 square metres, I think the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is perfect. Not only is the cutting width ideal but the lightweight, agile design makes moving around a breeze. There is a slightly smaller 30 cm model and I’ve provided a comparison table above to show you the minor differences with this model.
If you watch my video review, you’ll be able to see how well the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower performed on my lawn. I have to admit, I was a little sceptical because I was attempting to cut a damp lawn in March which isn’t typically a great idea. However, I was eager to test the limits of this mower and I’m glad I did because the results were excellent.
The performance of the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower can be attributed to the perfect balance between power and deck size. But the stainless steel blades also play an important role and what’s more, they’re super easy to sharpen or you can pick up a replacement for as little as £20.

Height Adjustment
One of the things I always look for when buying a lawn mower is a good number of cutting heights as this allows you far greater versatility at different times of the year. Plus, your lawn will grow to different lengths throughout the seasons and according to how often you cut it so having a good range of cutting height allows you to deal with various conditions.
So, I was pleased to see that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower comes with 5 cutting height options which can be easily changed via the central lever. I have to say that I prefer this design as mowers whose height adjustment handle is at the front are typically a little trickier to adjust. You’ll see from my YouTube video just how fast the process is.
The highest cutting height is 65 mm which is lower than some cordless mowers but certainly standard for the price point. At the other end of the scale we have a 25 mm cutting height which is about what you’d expect from a machine like this. Some people may wish to go shorter, especially if they’re striping the lawn but since the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower doesn’t come with a rear roller, that’s not something you’ll need to worry about.
Grass Collection Box
Looking at the grass box on the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower, you might think it’s a little small at 30 litres. But actually, this is about what you’d expect from a 33 cm lawn mower and it’s just about the right size for lawns around 200m². You’ll find that you don’t have to stop too many times and, when you do, removing the grass box to empty it takes seconds so there isn’t a lot of downtime.
What I really like about the grass box is the hybrid design. With a solid top, you get stability but the cloth sides promote airflow, meaning the mower will pick up more efficiently. Sometimes, fabric sides can be prone to damage but I noted the thickness and quality of the material that may not sustain damage as easily as some other models. Plus, this design means you can fold the box flat for easy storage.
On top of the grass collection box, you’ll find a full flap indicator. You’d be surprised how many cordless mowers lack this simple feature but it takes out the guesswork and is always a nice touch.
Practicalities
Being a compact lawn mower, the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is incredibly practical when it comes to being able to freely manoeuvre around garden obstacles. As you can see in my video review, my garden has a lot of flower beds, paths and other items that could make mowing with a large machine very difficult. Of course, the lack of a cord or any petrol maintenance is also a welcome feature.
The Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is also incredibly lightweight at just 11.5 kg which makes it even easier to move around and, if you need to transport it, that won’t be an issue.
If you asked me to compare the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower to similar models in terms of practicality, I wouldn’t say it was any better. While the design is super useful, it does lack features like a rear roller and mulching that make it slightly less versatile. Still, if you want a simple mower that’ll help you to maintain your lawn without all the bells and whistles, this will definitely meet your needs.
One of the things I didn’t like on the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower were the handles. While the handle does fold at the central point, the lower point doesn’t fold. Yes, you can remove it entirely but nobody wants to have to reassemble the handle every time they need to cut the grass.
Earlier, I mentioned that the batteries supplied with the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower are interchangeable with other tools in the 36 v range. I always see this as a huge positive, especially if you already own or plan to own other Einhell tools.
Finally, I think it’s worth noting that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is not a super noisy machine. In fact, the low noise level is one of the things that really sold it to me and I’m sure your neighbours will be thankful too.
Safety Features
Safety is one of the most important things when using a lawn mower, especially if you have children. An accident involving a sharp blade will almost certainly mean a trip to A&E but Einhell really has thought of everything.
Firstly, the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower comes with a safety key. Unless this is inserted, the machine simply will not start. When not in use, you can lock the key away somewhere that little hands don’t find it. However, I would urge you to keep in mind that you only get one safety key so don’t store it away somewhere that you’ll forget about it.
Secondly, the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower features a safety starter button which must be pushed at the same time as pulling the operator presence control lever. While these are both features that are common on cordless lawn mowers, they’re not guaranteed across the board and I’d always advise choosing a machine that has them.
There are some mowers that don’t power down immediately after releasing the operator control lever but when I used the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower, as soon as I let go, the mower stopped in its tracks.
Mulching
There is no mulching feature on the Einhell GE-CM 33 cordless lawn mower. If you simply must have a mulching lawn mower, why not check out my list of the best mulching mowers here.

Pros and Cons
As I said earlier, there are many advantages to this lawn mower but there are a few downsides too. Let me explain both so you know what you are getting for your money, and if this is the best option for you.
Conclusion
My overall thought about the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is that it’s a good quality cordless mower that is ideal for those who want something effective and efficient. I’ll admit that there aren’t any stand out features but for the price, it’s a simple mower that’s designed to get the job done. If that’s what you’re looking for then the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower might be worth considering.
I am a big fan of the WORX WG779E and I was eager to compare how the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower stood up to this. Did I think the WORX was better? I wouldn’t say so since both of these lawn mowers are very similar in terms of their features. However, I would say that the WORX does have a better run time as there is the option to switch over to Eco Mode which the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower doesn’t have. If I had to be really picky, I’d also say that the WORX cuts to the edge of the lawn better. If you watch my YouTube video, you’ll see that there were some scraggly blades of grass left over along the borders.
But that’s not to say that the Einhell isn’t a good machine. In fact, it does have an upper hand over the WORX when it comes to height adjustment in that the lever is much smoother.
I also noticed that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower has wider rear wheels which means that it’ll work well on bumpy lawns and doesn’t leave as many wheel marks on the grass. And let’s not forget those Power XChange batteries which are one of the most practical features of this mower.
If you’re looking for something that’ll be a good investment then I would recommend the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower. While there are a few drawbacks, this can be said of any cordless mower and since the Einhell is so practical and easy to use, this more than makes up for any minor issues I noticed.
Overall, this is a durable mower with excellent build quality that exceeded my expectations in terms of performance.
Should You Buy This Model?
The first thing I will say is that the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is only designed for gardens up to 200m², any larger and it will struggle in terms of run time and coverage.
I think this is an excellent option for anyone who needs something reliable, powerful and easy to use. What’s more, being lightweight and with a padded handle, it’s one of the more comfortable basic cordless lawnmowers on the market.
If you look at online reviews, you will see that users don’t have much to complain about. In fact, for the most part, reviews are positive and there have been no reports of design faults or technical issues; you can always trust that German engineering!
Of course, as with anything, there are some things that you should consider before purchasing this model. Whether it works for you or not depends on your needs and the needs of your garden.
