As is the case with the entire RASARRO range, the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower comes with 2 18v 4.0Ah batteries. That’s a really good amount of power for a machine of this size so you can mow your large garden with confidence.
These are lithium ion batteries which are known for their long life and impeccable performance and they power a smooth, reliable brushless motor.
One of the obvious benefits of having a cordless lawn mower is that there’s no longer any need for pesky cords getting in the way. It makes mowing the lawn a breeze.
If there’s one major selling point about the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower, it’s that the batteries are part of the Power X-Change range. This allows you to share the batteries with up to 300 other tools from the brand; talk abbott convenient!
However, I have to point out that, while the size of the mowing deck makes this model suitable for lawns up to 725m², the included batteries are really only suitable for lawns up to 550m². If you wanted to then it would be a better idea to purchase a pair of 5.2Ah batteries for a larger lawn to improve the runtime and performance.
Battery Charger
The Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower not only comes with two power shareable batteries, it is also supplied with a dual charger. There’s nothing more frustrating than having a cordless mower that takes two batteries and only being able to charge one at a time.
But what struck me even more was how quickly this charger boosts the juice. In just sixty minutes the batteries will go from flat to ready to go so you’re not left waiting around to tend to your garden.
There’s also a handy battery indicator that lets you know when it’s time to recharge and the charger is fitted with LED lights to give you a clear idea of when they’re fully charged.
Performance
If you don’t like the idea of having to get the trimmer out after mowing then the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower might be a wise addition to your tool shed. It’s fitted with grass combs which allow you to cut much closer to the edge, along fences, borders, pathways and other boundaries. It’s a simple touch but one that takes a lot of the work out of garden maintenance.
You’ll also notice that the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower comes with a mulching plug. This is inserted into the back of the mower and, instead of the clippings being sent to the grass box, they circulate around the deck and are finely chopped up. The 42 cm cutting width is suitable for gardens up to 725 square metres. However, this may be too large for small gardens as a big mower is just awkward to move around small spaces. But the good news is that Einhell has two other mowers in the range; a 34cm model (Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/34) suitable for lawns up to 300 square metres and a 38cm (Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/38) model for lawns up to 400 square metres.
Wheels
Another of the features of the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower that I really liked was the large rear wheels. These offer excellent stability and manoeuvrability without the risk of damage to the lawn.
Handles
By far one of my favourite features of the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower is its sliding handle. This is something that I’ve only seen on the Bosch AdvancedRotak so it’s a really unique touch. What’s more, it’s really easy to adjust thanks to the quick release lever so there’s no messing around before you start mowing.
The benefit of this is that adjusting the height of the handle is super quick and easy and you can set it so that it’s comfortable for you. If you’ve ever experienced back pain while mowing, this will certainly be a welcome addition.
What’s more, the handle collapses in on itself when not in use which makes it a lot easier to store the mower, particularly if you’re pushed for space.
While the body of the mower is made from plastic, the handle is made from aluminium. This makes it really smooth to operate, comfortable and very light weight at the same time as being mega durable.
You’ll also notice that the handle is ergonomically shaped for a more comfortable user experience. The controls and petrol style starter bar are all within easy reach and the contours of the handle fit perfectly into the hand. There’s also a rubber strip along the handle for added grip and stability.
Height Adjustment
The Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower comes with a choice of six cutting heights ranging between 25 mm and 75 mm. This gives you more than enough versatility to cut your lawn to your liking and adjust the height over the course of the mowing season.
However, I should point out that, if you go for the smallest model in the range, the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/34 cordless lawn mower, then the cutting heights are reduced to a choice of five.
I love how easy it is to switch between the heights when using this mower. There’s a central lever that moves smoothly between the settings and that locks into place so it’s really secure and won’t pop out while you’re mowing.
Grass Collection Bag
The Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower comes with a 50 litre grass collection box. The lid is made from solid plastic which gives good structure while the box itself is made from fabric.
The benefit of this is improved airflow and of course, it can be collapsed when you store the mower. However, I did notice that the smaller 38 cm model came with a full plastic grass box making it less easy to store.
The grass box on the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower also comes with a full level indicator which flaps when there is still space inside. Once the box fills up, it will stop moving so you know it’s time to empty. This means no more stopping to check how full the grass box is. There’s also a practical handle on the top of the grass box which makes tipping the contents away much easier.
Practicalities
If you have children then there’s always that worry that they’ll mess with the lawn mower and sustain a devastating injury. But, the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower includes a safety key so there’s no chance of an accidental start up. While this is a feature on a lot of modern cordless mowers, it’s not a given so it’s always nice to see this.
Storing the Einhell Power X-change RASARRO 36/42 cordless lawn mower is really simple so it’s ideal if your shed or garage is already packed with equipment. Not only does the handle fold down but the entire thing has been designed to be space saving. Once it’s collapsed, there’s a convenient carry handle so you can move it into storage. However, it does weigh more than 17kg so it’s not the lightest mower in the world which is worth considering if you don’t have a lot of strength.
I was also really impressed with the 10 year service guarantee on the brushless motor which gives you excellent peace of mind.
