Summary
What is the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li? The Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li is a cordless lawn mower that charges in 120 minutes and produces a 25 minute run time. It has a 30 litre grass box, a 30 cm cutting width and has 5 cutting heights that range from 25mm to 65mm.
The Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li Cordless Battery lawn mower is one of the best selling cordless lawn mowers in the UK, but is it all what it’s cracked up to be?
The Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 certainly has the ability to cut a lawn up to 250 meters square (roughly the size of a tennis court), but it needs to be compared to its nearest rival, the WORX WG779E.2, to judge how good this mower really is.
To compare the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 to other cordless mowers in higher or lower price range would distort the results, these two mowers (Worx and Flymo) are probably the most affordable and best performing 40v cordless mowers on the market today.
Listed below are all the features and functions of the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300, both good and not so good and then comparing to the WORX WG779E.2 so you understand exactly what you’re getting for your money.

Power System
Like many cordless lawn mowers, the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li is powered by a Lithium-ion battery (40V) and electrical motor which will charge in around 2 hours. The battery is removed from the mower for charging and storage.
The battery could take up to 2 hours to fully recharge and will produce a mowing time of around 25 minutes. In comparison to the WORX WG779E.2 that takes a shorter 1.5 hours to charge and will last slightly longer with the ability to cut a lawn up to 350 m². This is surprising as the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 weighs 3 kg less than the Worx WG779E.2.
Also the power system is completely electric so it produces zero emissions and works extremely quietly. Which is quieter? Well, there’s not much between them but I would say the WORX is slightly quieter due to the “Mute technology” that WORX claim makes their mower barely audible from 10m.
Where this Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li stands out against the competition, is the fantastic value for money. When you compare the features, quality and price, this Flymo should definitely be on your shortlist, even with the longer battery charge time. Don’t forget you can always purchase an additional battery if required.
The great advantage about these cordless mowers in general, is that you can set out to work at any time you want without it annoying your family or your neighbours as the mowers are so quiet. With zero emissions, they look after the environment as well.

Features In Detail
Blades
The Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 is equipped with one FLY069 30cm Wheeled metal mower blade that gives them two very effective benefits…
- Metal blades generally wear less quickly than plastic blades which results in you needing to replace the lawn mower blades less often.
- Metal blades are generally sharper and provide a cleaner cut to the grass blade, resulting in a neater, tidier and superior finish to your lawn and garden. The metal blades on the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 can be sharpened when needed, unlike plastic blades.
This again does not necessarily put it ahead of its competitors but it’s good that Flymo have taken advantage of what is clearly the most effective cutting system in the market.
Height Adjustment
In order to combat the changing season and to continually improve the look of your lawn, you can adjust the height at which the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 cuts at. This is done very easily using the large lever located on top/side of the mower.
It lets you choose to cut from anywhere between 25mm to 65mm with 5 separate cutting lengths. Just make sure you don’t set it at the shortest setting from the when the lawn has significant growth, instead start at a higher setting and gradually work your way down. This gives the areas of small grass to catch up with the long, resulting in a more even garden.
As well as being able to sharpen the blades, it is also possible to purchase a replacement blade. Replacing the blade is relatively easy for anyone with basic DIY skills and tools.
Cutting Diameter and Height
The cutting diameter of the mower may seem a little on the small size with only a 30cm mowing capability. Now, compared to its counterparts with widths of up to 43cm, this might be a potential disadvantage; however, it could also be beneficial if it’s to be used in a smaller areas and lawns with narrow strips.
When you need a mower that’s light in weight and going to reach the smaller areas of your lawn, this may well be the best option for you. Yes it will take longer to mow the entire area, but if it fits and there’s no rush then the Flymo Mighti-Mo Li 300 could be the cordless mower of choice.
Grass Box Capacity
As with all smaller cordless lawn mowers the grass box is not going to hold as much as its larger counterparts, however 30 litres is comparable to other mowers of this size. 30 litres allows longer periods of use without needing to empty grass clippings as often.
The grass box on the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li is very easy to remove and the grass clippings empty from the box with no obstructions.
Practicalities
The light weight, small size and fold away handles make this mower excellent for smaller lawns or lawns with smaller strips of grass.
This mower makes lawn care much easier and enjoyable as you will not be struggling with a heavy oversized lawn mower.
As with all cordless lawn mowers, not being tethered by the cord not only make it easier to mow the lawn, but safer, quieter and more environmentally friendly.
Does this make it more practical compared to the closest competition? Well, yes I think it does for people with smaller lawns and limited space for storage. There is also a very handy and well positioned central handle that makes carrying the almost 10 kg mower to the garage or shed very easy.
Safety Features
What I really like about the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Li is the addition of a removable safety key that disables the lawn mower to help prevent accidental starting. This is a nice feature, not found on similar cordless mowers, that provides peace of mind around children.
Mulching
As with most cordless lawn mowers in this class and at this price range, there is no mulching facility with this Flymo mower.
What’s Included in the Box
- The mower itself
- 1 x Lithium-ion battery (40V)
- 1 x 30 litre grass box
Downsides
- This mower does take two hours to charge, some competitors can charge much quicker and still produce the same working time. But this doesn’t affect you too much so you do not need to worry about this.
- There is no battery gauge to show the charge level.
- There is no grass box level indicator as with some of the other models such as the WORX WG776E.
The above points may sound trivial and are common to most cordless mowers but should be taken into consideration anyway. They are part of the package and it’s better being aware of them before a purchase than after.
Conclusion
Overall this is a very good mower, the extra features like the removable safety key is a nice touch but one that you will most probably never use. Besides you want features that will help you achieve a lovely looking lawn with the least amount of work and effort.
The Flymo Mighti-Mo Li 300 is very proficient at cutting varying lengths and thickness of grass, this is impressive for such a small and compact cordless mower. It’s worth mentioning that by cutting more regularly and avoiding very long or wet grass this should avoid putting too much strain on the battery. Remember to always keep the battery charged and stored in a dry place over winter.
But do I think this mower is better than its closest competitors?
Well, in terms of functionality it’s not quite as good as the WORX WG776E. What is outstanding about this mower is the price and value for money. This cordless mower is currently priced at around £200 which is similar price to that of the WORX, that makes the Flymo a genuine option when choosing a cordless mower. To be honest they both cut equally as good as each other, so if you can live with the longer charge times and a few functions missing (that you will most probably not need anyway) then please consider this mower seriously.
Overall, I think this is a fantastic mower that has a good build quality and I would encourage everyone with a garden under 250 m² to consider purchasing one. In fact, I think it’s the best value mower you can purchase right now!
Pros and Cons
Should You Buy This Model?
Well there are a few factors to consider first, whether or not you purchase this model really depends on your garden and situation.
To give you some guidance on which type of customer would suit this model best, below I have listed the categories they would fall under:
- People with lawns up to 250m² in size.
- Those who require a narrow cutting width (30cm).
- People with lawns that are split into different areas, with smaller strips of lawn.
- People who require a light-weight easy to manoeuvre cordless mower.
- Those who have limited storage space.

Of course this is open to interpretation so if you don’t fall under every single category then don’t worry I’m sure you’ll still love this product. It has loads of great features that I’m sure you will make use of even if you’re not its perfect customer.

This is a very good choice for most town gardens but has two major drawbacks. Firstly, with the slightest jolt of the mower – for example, if lifted slightly to get over a twig (!) – the battery jumps out of contact and has to be reset in place. Quite soon, this leads to damage to the battery contacts and then the battery needs to be replaced – a new battery is nearly as expensive as a new mower!
Hi Chris
Thanks for letting us know about your experience with the Mighti-Mo 300. I have not experienced or had any feedback regarding this issue.
Normally the batteries clip in so tightly they are difficult to get out so not sure if you have a faulty product.
I would contact Flymo directly to see what they suggest – details below.
Can you please let us know what their response is?

I have had a Mighti-Mo 300Li since last season for my small lawn (60msq). I am a retired professional gardener so I do know about mowing grass! In my early eighties now this machine suits me perfectly and I am very pleased with it BUT I am now beginning to loose the strength in my fingers and I cannot hold the safety grips tightly enough ! Frustratingly, therefore the machine keeps stopping! Have you any solutions to this problem? Any alternative more positive levers that might click into the ‘go’ position?
I am reluctant to go looking for another machine because this one is spot on for the job!
