Power System
This is a 1200w lawn mower that is suitable for gardens up to 150m², that’s about 12m x 12m. Now, this sounds great, in theory, but what caught my attention is that the power cable is only 10m long. It isn’t going to reach the far end of the garden without using an extension lead.
Well, judging by the other features of this lawn mower, I’d say that this cable shortage is a minor irk at worst. When you look at how well the lawn mower performs, it isn’t difficult to see why I say this, let’s move on.
Performance
One of the best things about this lawn mower is that it features leading grass combs around the outer edge of the deck. Essentially, this means that the mower has the ability to almost cut right to the edge of the lawn, reducing the need to get the trimmer out after you have finished mowing.
What’s more, since this is a lightweight lawn mower, moving it around the garden is easy and won’t put any strain on you. However, if I did have to pick anything out, it would be that this mower does struggle a little with very long grass, this is particularly so when the grass is damp. But having said that, it’s designed for well-maintained gardens and it does this immaculately.

Deck and Blade
The Hyundai HYM3300E features a plastic deck which could be seen as being weaker than a steel one. But when you consider how well made it is, any concerns quickly fade away. The blade is made from an alloy steel and is incredibly durable. It produces a precise and clean cut and can be easily sharpened, if required.
Replacement blades are also readily available and can be fitted by anyone with basic DIY skills and tools.
Cutting Diameter
With a cutting diameter of 33cm, this is the ideal lawn mower for small to medium lawns. As I touched upon earlier, Hyundai recommends this mower for gardens as large as 12m x 12m. If yours is smaller or larger than this, then you might be better taking a look at the younger and older brothers which may be more suitable for your garden.
Handles
While the handles do lack the padding that we so often see in modern mowers, it’s not really needed since you won’t be using this for extended periods of time and vibrations are minimal. But what you do benefit from is a folding handle that can make storing this lawn mower far easier, especially if you are limited on space. All of the controls are within easy reach, it’s as simple as hitting the safety button, pulling the levers and getting on your way.
There are both left and right starter handles on this mower, unlike the smaller model ( Hyundai 3200E) that only has a single right hand starter. If you simply have to have foam on the handles then the larger model (Hyundai 3800E) has this as standard.
Height Adjustment
The Hyundai HYM3300E comes with a choice of three cutting heights that range between 20mm and 60mm. The middle length of these works very well with the rear roller. However, the height adjustment is quite tricky to change since the mower needs to be turned upside down to access the spring loaded axle that alters the cutting height. While this is certainly not considered nightmarish, it is a mild inconvenience.
Grass Collection Box
This lawn mower comes with a 30-litre solid grass collector, which is ideal for the size lawn that it will be working with. It is easy to remove and put back on reducing the time spent emptying the mower. To activate mulching mode, you simply need to pop in the mulching plug that comes with the mower and fire it up; your tool will do the rest.
Safety Features
The Hyundai HYM3300E comes with a safety button located on the control box near the handles. This must be engaged before the operator presence control levers can be used to start the mower. This will prevent any curious little hands from starting the mower up accidentally.

If you struggle to push around a heavy petrol mower and have been looking at switching to electric to lessen the physical strain on you, then this is an excellent choice.

If you’re looking for something to plough through dense grass that hasn’t seen a mower in months, then this might not work for you.
For anyone who is just starting to get to grips with what a lawn mower can do and wants to ease themselves in, this is a great place to start. While it does more than just mow, it doesn’t overwhelm you with complicated features that could leave a beginner scratching their heads.
