Engine
The Yard Force GM B41 uses a 125cc Briggs & Stratton 300E Series engine, which produces 6.1 Newton metres (4.5 ft. lbs.) of torque and runs regular petrol. 300E are 4-stroke engines, so no engine oil needs to be added to the fuel. Though the manufacturer does recommend a fuel stabiliser to help preserve the engine when in storage.
E-series motors use a prime-n-pull E-Z starting system; prime the engine with fuel with a couple of quick pumps and it is ready for an easy recoil start. The air filter on the Yard Force GM B41 is designed for tool-less access, and it is a good idea to clean and re-oil it on a regular basis.

Self-Propelled Drive
The Yard Force GM B41 is a push mower built for small gardens and its weight at 22 Kg, is light-weight for a petrol mower. If you are on flat and even ground, and you do not let the grass grow too tall, there is no need for a self-propelled mower.
If you are looking for a self propelled version of this mower then you would need the Yard Force GM B46 self propelled lawn mower. The Yard Force GM B46 does however have a larger deck size at 46cm and a slightly more powerful engine at 140cc and has the ability to mulch the lawn. I have created a handy comparison table below to show the differences between these two Yard Force petrol mowers.

Height Adjustment
Yard Force has made a little more effort for safety and convenience over other brands by using one lever to control the height of all four wheels. On the rear right of the machine, the lever has 5 cutting heights that range from 25mm to 75mm. This helps to keep the machine even and planted on the ground. Keeping the blades level to the grass will also help it to cut more in one pass, thus making it more efficient.
Cutting Diameter and Features
The Yard Force GM B41 sports a 41 centimetre curved steel blade, to encourage airflow and grass into the collection bag. Yard Force uses Diamond grinding to get the sharp edge on the blade; this makes for a much cleaner cut. The special method of blade sharpening also reduces the noise levels of the active blade over other mowers.
Roller (Stripes)
This unit does not come with a rear roller, but it is possible to find aftermarket rollers that have universal fittings to attach to the back wheels. Being a push mower, attaching a roller is a bit redundant, and there are many rollers on the market that you can use manually.
If you are looking for a petrol mower with a rear roller fitted, see my list of best petrol lawn mowers for a striped lawn.
Grass Box Capacity
For the intended lawn size of 400m2, the Yard Force GM B41 does not need an oversized grass bag. The Yard Force GM B41 comes with a sufficient 45 litre fabric bag, supported by an internal metal frame that the owners need to assemble on delivery. This bag hooks in to place on the back on the machine, and it is removable for ease of emptying.
Practicalities
The mower has a steel deck, painted with black gloss to reduce the amount of grass that would stick to it; the gloss also helps to prevent corrosion. The steel deck is strong and designed to encourage airflow and grass clippings into the collection bag at the back of the unit.
Safety Features
To start the engine, users need to first prime the engine and then pull on the brake lever. Then they can continue with pulling the recoil cord to get the engine going. If at any moment the break lever is released, the blade will stop spinning.
Yard Force has implemented a single height lever to control all four wheels at the back of the unit. This means that the owner does not have to go around to the more dangerous front-end of the machine to adjust the lead-wheels.
Mulching
There is no mulching unit on the Yard Force GM B41, this capability is more common on mowers with larger motors that are intended for larger areas. An example of this is the larger Yard Force GMB 46C.
If you are looking for alternative mowers that have a mulching function supplied, then see my list of best petrol mulching lawn mowers.

Yard Force GM B41 Pros and Cons
Should You Buy this Yard Force GM B41?
Aimed at the owners of lawns with 400m2 or less in size, and for those owners that are mobile. A 22 kilo lawn mower is not difficult to push on four wheels. The wide cutting path means that a 400m2 lawn will still take less than 15 minutes to cut.
This mower is for a younger audience with a small to medium back garden; for the infirm, a self-propelled version is preferable. And adding all the complex mechanics to have a mower self-propel adds a lot of weight where it is not needed.
Conclusion
It is a great idea to improve the safety and accuracy of cutting, with a height handle that controls all four wheels at the same time. It is such a simple idea; it is a wonder why more manufacturers do not follow suit.
The deck is made from solid stainless steel, and Yard Force has down a nice job of styling it. The rear wheels are larger than the front wheels, which is also sensible since the centre of gravity is set over the back wheels of the mower. And larger wheels will ride bumps and rough terrain in the garden better.
