I’d been hoping to find a cordless lawn mower that might rival the power and performance of a petrol tool. That was when I stumbled upon the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP and all of my dreams came true. OK, let’s not hide the fact that this is a pretty pricey machine, but is that investment well worth it?
The EGO Power+ LM2135-SP is a cordless lawn mower that’s designed for large lawns. With a cutting width of 52cm, seven cutting heights, various mowing modes, a huge grass box and a multi-blade system, it’s no surprise that this looks set to put petrol mowers back in the past.
I love how many features the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP has and how easy it is to use. Even if you’ve never mowed a lawn in your life before, you’ll have no problems getting to grips with this one. In my EGO Power+ LM2135-SP review, I’ll be introducing you to all the features you can look forward to from this machine.
I did a video review of the smaller brother to this mower, the 42cm deck EGO LM1701E-SP, and was so impressed with its performance and build quality. So does this LM2135-SP carry on these impressive features, or is this huge 52cm model too big for its boots?

Power System & Batteries
The EGO Power+ LM2135-SP is a cordless lawn mower with an incredible amount of power. It runs beautifully on a smooth brushless motor which is a huge draw. But what really caught my attention was the included 7.5Ah battery that gives you a very impressive running time.
It is possible to use other less powerful batteries in this mower, but why would you when it’s designed for large lawns? You’re going to need the long 60 minute running time that the 7.5Ah battery boasts. During this time, you should be able to cut up to 1000 square metres.

Battery Charger
Also included in the box is a rapid charger. So, even if you do run out of power before you’ve finished the job, you’ll only need to wait an hour before getting on the go again.
I also really like that the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP has a little window that allows you to see how much charge you have left. You won’t be caught out in the middle of a mow, that’s for sure.
Performance
One of the things that makes the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP so easy to use is the “Touch Drive” self-propelled drive. This is technology that has been developed by the brand over many years, so it’s super reliable.
At your touch, the mower gets going and it also boasts variable speed control, so you can match it to your walking speed. This is between 0.9mph and 3.1mph so it’s very versatile.
This mower makes great use of EGO’s high torque and high efficiency motor, so you never feel that the going is too tough like with some other brands.
It is worth mentioning that this mower weighs in at a hefty 26kg, without the battery which adds another 3kg. Yes, I know it’s self-propelled, however you may still need to navigate steps for example or getting the mower to and from your lawn. Having said that, an equivalent petrol mower may weigh anything up to 40kg.
Deck and Blade
I got very excited about the multi blade system on the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP. It’s one of the mower’s most exciting features. Underneath, you will find two blades; a dual bagging blade. They can be used together or removed and exchanged for a dual mulching blade, if needed. The standard upper EGO EDGE blade works in conjunction with the lower blade to achieve a clean and efficient cut.
This blade system is one of the things that really puts this mower up there with petrol mowers in terms of performance. You’ll be amazed at how well it cuts and if you’ve ever doubted how efficient a cordless mower can be, this will be the one to change your mind.
I was so impressed with the power and cut on the smaller EGO LM1701E-SP, however, this LM2135-SP takes this power, cutting efficiency and quality to the next level.
The EGO Power+ LM2135-SP features a large 52cm cutting deck. This makes it ideal for bigger gardens and wider areas. You’ll cover a lot more ground in one pass, so you won’t need to spend as long doing the garden chores.
There is the option to purchase a dual mulching blade along with the mulching plug to enable this mower to mulch the cuttings, should you want to do that. It is a little naughty for EGO to advertise the mower as having the ability to mulch as the blade and mulching plug are not provided as standard, however at a relatively low cost the kit can be purchased separately.
Handles
Not only is the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP a powerful and efficient machine, it’s also so user friendly! The first thing I noticed about the mower was how everything is within easy reach. All of the controls are located on the handle, so there’s no messing about to get going. The central speed control is responsive and it’s easy to see the settings. The only thing you may find, is remembering what way to turn the dial. I found myself speeding up when in fact I wanted to slow down. Just remember, turn the dial forward to speed up and backwards to slow down or disengage the self-propelled drive, easy!
What’s more, the handle is adjustable to one of three positions, so you can set it to a height that feels comfortable to you. Moreover, when you’re done, the quick release telescopic handle folds down quickly and easily for convenient storage. The quality of the handles, from plastics and aluminium, is excellent and is built to last. Once the quick release handles are locked into position, there really is no movement, unlike some other mowers I have tested.
Wheels
The EGO Power+ LM2135-SP is fitted with large wheels at the rear, which gives it optimum stability. This, coupled with the self-propelled drive makes it perfect for sloped or uneven terrain. I have seen better tread or grip on wheels of other mowers, so this EGO may tend to loose grip on steeper slopes when the lawn is damp.
In general, if you’ve ever struggled getting around your garden with the mower, that will become a thing of the past.
Height Adjustment
The single height adjustment lever has a nice large handle and is easy and smooth to use. Once set into its position is secure with no risk of it popping out like some other brands of mower I have tested.
Cutting Options – Mulching, Rear Discharge, Cut & Collect
The versatility of the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP doesn’t end with the nice range of cutting heights. It has also got a variety of mowing modes, so you can tend to your garden in a way to suit you.
The optional mulching blade will finely chop the grass clippings and deliver them back to your lawn to keep it green and healthy. On top of this, you also have the option of rear discharge and the standard cut and collect.
Please note that the mulching dual blade and mulching plug are supplied as an optional kit. It costs around £50 and the product code is ABP2100D-E.
Grass Collection Bag
If you don’t want to mulch your lawn clippings then the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP comes with a hefty 70 litre hybrid grass collection bag. This is exactly what you want when choosing a mower for a larger lawn, as anything smaller would mean you are having to stop to empty it much too often.
Being a fabric grass bag, it’s very easy to store as it will fold flat, when in use, the air flow will also be far superior!
The bag attaches securely with no issue of it bouncing off at the first bump it encounters. The sturdy handle is of good quality and makes attaching / removing of the bag easy.
Practicalities
What I really loved about the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP was that it is fitted with LED headlights. This isn’t a typical feature that you would find on any mower, so it’s a nice touch. Having these lights will allow you to cut the lawn more easily even as the natural light begins to fade.
In addition to this, the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP is super easy to start thanks to a push button control. No messing around to get going and it’s much safer.
The one thing to bear in mind is the weight as mentioned above. Yes it is lighter than a petrol mower, but probably one of the heaviest cordless mowers on the UK market at nearly 30kg including the battery.
There is nothing more frustrating than a mower running too quickly, as it constantly feels like it is running away from you whilst mowing. The same is true when it runs too slowly. With this EGO you can easily adjust the speed to not only suit your pace, but also the condition of the lawn or the terrain being mowed.
Yes it is a large mower, but the fact that everything folds down quickly and easily will help to ensure that storage is not going to be an issue. Oh, and did I mention that this EGO mower can be stored vertically to save even more space in your shed or outbuilding?
Is it practical? Yes, overall I would say so.

- The lid of the grass box, also has a strong folding handle, to make it easier to lift and attach the box at the rear of the mower.
- Self-propelled variable speed drive.
- Three mowing options including cut & collect, mulching (optional) and rear discharge.
- The telescopic handle is convenient as it takes up little space and also allows the operator to stand the mower in a vertical position.
- The telescopic handle also works with the rear wheels to trolley the mower to location.
- LED spotlights on the front of the mower are great if you want to do a bit of mid-night mowing.
- A larger battery means there is less time wasted on waiting for a smaller battery to charge, so you can finish faster.
Safety Features
- The operator needs to insert a key, with the battery, to be able to activate the mower.
- A single lever at the rear of the machine is a safer way to change the deck height over a mid-deck lever.
- There is an automatic overheating shut-off circuit to save the battery and the motor, if the operator tries to push them too far.
- The rapid charger has software and a cooling fan to prevent overcharging or damaging the battery.

If you are looking for a cordless lawn mower that is going to outperform anything you have used in the past then yes, you should absolutely consider buying the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP. It’s a machine that’s going to seriously impress and if you take good care of it, you’ll get a lot of use out of your new tool.
For larger gardens up to 1000m², the EGO Power+ LM2135-SP is an obvious choice. It has so many features that make tending to a huge lawn much less exerting. A wide cutting diameter, several cutting heights and a long running time will certainly see you through each mowing session without breaking a sweat. And that’s before you’ve even considered the self-propelled variable speed drive!

While it might require you to make something of an investment in terms of the cost, it’s well worth it if you want a powerful, reliable, low maintenance and efficient machine that has the power and performance to make light work of the toughest conditions.
