A 1.15 horsepower engine is impressive in trimmer of this size, 24.5cc. And they have done this while keeping it in a medium-low price range. It has affected the weight, though the Einhell GE-PH 2555A Petrol Hedge Trimmer is lighter than many petrol hedge trimmers of similar engine size.
The fuel tank on this Einhell GE-PH 2555A Petrol Hedge Trimmer is set under the engine, which has a large petrol filler opening leading into it from the right of the engine. There is also a primer pump to get the engine ready for a quick start after a period of inactivity.
Blade
Einhell prides themselves on making a sharp blade for their cutting tools, and the claim to use lasers to cut the metal for the blade. After this, they use diamonds to grind the blades, to get them sharp and efficient for clean cutting.
- The 55 centimetre useable blade length makes it excellent for single passes and quick work.
- Teeth are spaced to accept and cut branches up to 1.9cm in thickness. This is the least cutting capability of the trimmer in my selected best trimmers (by 0.3cm+), but it depends if you intend to use it for thick branches.
- There is a small hand guard in front of the rail, but again it is more to stop stray branches getting stuck in the handle.
Practicalities

The engine is mounted on anti-vibration brackets to reduce fatigue on the user’s hands. The end of the blade it straight an active to the end, so there is some possibility of grazing the end of the blade along a wall.

Overall, Einhell is hard to fault; they make great tools at very reasonable prices. As with a lot of the petrol hedge trimmers, safety does not seem to be the main concern. But then it is hard to make a power tool safe when an unprotected reciprocating blade is involved.

The only other issue is the weight; that comes with using a larger motor, so this is a good unit for large long hedges. If you want to do some occasional trimming, a smaller, shorter unit is preferable.
