The EasiLife 200 uses a guidewire, which needs nailing into the grass, to function as a boundary that the machine cannot cross. Once the machine is on, and sets-off, it uses random path programming to reach the various areas of your lawn.
One of the benefits of a random path mower is that it hides the track marks of the wheels. The downside is that it takes longer to get around the garden, and it is a less efficient method compared to a GPS mower that will pre-plan a route.
Power System
The EasiLife 200 uses an 18V 2.0 Ah lithium-ion battery to power itself. This battery takes around an hour to charge and will last on average, 65 minutes. Even though this sounds like a short-battery time, the mower will automatically return to the dock for charging and then return to mow the lawn several times over. This is done with no effort or input from you.
Charging Station

An IPX4 waterproof charging station comes with the robot mower. This station sits on the edge of the grass and needs to either plug into an outdoor wall socket, or the dock needs a professional electrician that can wire-up and install a waterproof connection.
The station also forms the brains of the wire boundary for the mower, forming the start and end of the loop. The boundary wire needs to be set back at least 20 centimetres from where the grass ends to give the unit space to turn. The wire tells the mower to turn around and continue mowing in a different direction.
Blade
As with all mowers, the blades are consumables. Flymo sells these blades in packs of three, which need replacing when damaged. And even though it is autonomous, the blades still need inspecting and hosing off once a week to prolong their life and effectiveness.
Flymo recommends a common dish-brush to clean the blades and the wheels. There are three small blades, which can pivot to prevent damage if they collide with a solid object.
These are razor-sharp steel blades, and considering how small they are, they will cut through tall grass without getting stuck. Though the mower will need to make a few attempts before it manages to level a thick lawn.
Height Adjustment
No one wants to put their hands near a robot’s blades to alter the height. Flymo has introduced a safer way by placing a height dial under the control lid. The heights range from 2cm to 5cm, incremented in half-centimetre marks.

Mowing Features

LawnSense
The Flymo EasiLife 200 has LawnSense, which chooses the time of day and weather conditions to maw the lawn. There are 3 sub-levels of this mode the owner can choose from — this depends on the height of the grass you want.
FrostSense
FrostSense is another automated feature that detects and pauses the mowing schedule when the temperature is too cold. This activates when the ambient temperature goes below 5o C, and mowing would damage the grass.
Spot Cut
Another clever idea is Spot Cut, where the user can lift the mower to an area that needs more attention and then choose this mode. Spot cutting directs the mower to move in a spiral pattern out from the overgrown spot before it reverts to normal mode.
Override
Override is a quick way to tell the mower to ignore the schedule for 3 hours. After this period, the mower will return to its regular scheduling.
Second Area
It may be the case that you have two patches of lawn. Pushing this button tells the mower that it is working in an area without access to its dock. The mower sounds an alarm when it needs help in moving back to the main area.
Park
This is a way of telling the mower to ignore all current commands and return to the charging station to await further instructions. Useful if you see a big thunderstorm rolling in.
Mulching

There is no grass collection bag on this robot or any other way of dealing with the grass other than mulching. Because the unit uses a random path, it will return to the same spot several times. Each time the robot returns to a spot, it will cut the clippings again — mulching.
A robot mower is relentless in its duty and will go around the lawn several times a day if you wish. There are many benefits to mulching, please see my article on the benefits of mulching on the link below.
The Benefits of Mulching Lawn Mowers
Rain Sensor
The Flymo EasiLife 200 is waterproof, but mowing in the rain may damage the grass. In association with LawnSense, the EasiLife 200 will pause the mower’s schedule until the weather improves.
Flymo EasiLife App & Installation
Flymo has introduced a Mobile app for their EasiLife robot mowers that makes the set-up process more comfortable. The app has some quick buttons such as Return for Charging and Pause operations.
You can also choose the programming schedule for individual hours on different days of the week. The app supplies an estimate of how long it will take the mower to cut the grass-based on your measurement of the area. The app also reminds the owner of when the blades need changing.
Control Panel & Setup

The setup procedure is simpler with the use of the app, but you can also program the EasiLife 200 on its panel. You use the below procedure to get the mower up and running:
- Download the EasiLife App.
- Find an area of your lawn where you can place the docking station and have power routed to it.
- Run the boundary wire from the dock and around the lawn, at least 20 centimetres from the grass border. The wire must form a complete loop and return to the dock to complete the circuit.
- Install the guidewire, which directs the mower on the final part of its journey back into the dock.
- After the wiring and charging is complete, you can connect your phone through Bluetooth to the mower and start using the App.
- Begin scheduling or set the mower off to work.
The scroll-through panel on the front of the mower is intuitive, and the EasiLife App makes it all even easier.
Below is a video showing the setup process of this Flymo EasiLife 200.
Safety Features

Because this is an autonomous mower, there are many safety features to protect people and pets around the machine. These safety features also protect the machine from damage and theft.
Lift & Tilt Sensors
Tilt sensors detect if the mower is close to tipping over, or has rolled over, and cuts power to the motor. And also, if a thief or a child attempts to lift the mower, the motor will turn off.
PIN & Alarm System
A robotic lawn mower may be too much temptation for some. For security, the user can enter a PIN-code into the machine. The user must enter the PIN-code to get into the setting menu on the mower, or every 30 days.
You can also pair the mower to the dock. So, if someone was to take the mower, it will not work on another charging dock.
Lawn Mower Garage
Whilst your robotic mower is completely fine working in the sun and rain, you do have the option to build or purchase a lawn mower garage. If you are not building one yourself, then there are many different designs and options available. Most robotic mower manufacturers will have a dedicated docking station roof, that will provide some protection from the rain and sun, however you can take it one step further and have a completely bespoke design. To see what can be achieved see my article Top 9 Best Robotic Lawn Mower Garage Ideas.
Warranty
There is a 2-year warranty that covers manufacturing faults and materials, and Flymo will replace or repair the unit for free in this period. This does not cover such issues as damaging the loop wire or using third- party blades.

Pros and Cons
Conclusion
This Flymo EasiLife 200 model is a step up from the older but very popular 1200R series from Flymo. The mover makes a quiet 58 decibels at the unit, and of course, as would be sitting away from the mower the noise is negligible. You could even have this machine mowing in the middle of the night while you sleep, and without disturbing the neighbours.
Everyone seems to be resorting to mulching grass nowadays, rather than bagging, due to waste restrictions. Mulching is more natural, and the grass shows appreciation of this natural fertilising method resulting in grass growing back stronger and with an enriched colour.
This is the entry-level model of the Flymo’s EasiLife line. The battery is the latest Lithium-Ion technology, and although it is only 2.0 Ah power the 60 minutes run time is enough time for a small lawn. And it will return to base to recharge, then go out again if that is what you have put on the schedule.
This Flymo EasiLife 200 will not cut completely to the edge (only the bigger brothers have this functionality). To achieve a complete cut to edge, you are going to periodically need to trim your edges. To do this you will need to use the Best Cordless Grass Trimmer to suit your requirements.
There are some good safety precautions that Flymo has taken to keep everyone safe. And safety is going to be the biggest concern for people with children or pets. Even with all the safety features, it would still be advisable to keep all body parts away from the mower while it is working.
The blades are small, but the EasiLife 200 works on perseverance, not size. The mower will not complain or protest about cutting the lawn several times a day. The App makes life a lot easier, and the one minor thing that could improve it is a mesh plate on the dock to allow grass to grow through it.
Should You Buy This Model?

If you are growing tired of setting up your mower once a week and pushing it around your small lawn — this is the solution. The first stage of getting the boundary wire in will take time and patience, and not everyone has these two characteristics.
After the wiring has been installed, the machine is a dream. It is quiet and inexpensive to run. The EasiLife 200 gives you a chance to keep on dreaming while it is busy mowing your lawn.
The older model Flymo 1200R has for many years been serving its customers with positive feedback. The new range of EasiLife robotic mowers are sure to follow suit with better mobility, onboard technology and enhanced features and functions. Remember Flymo is just another brand for the Swedish company Husqvarna, the leaders in robotic mower technology.
As with all robotic mowers you will never have to spend time mowing the lawn but will enjoy an amazing looking lawn at all times.
