Flymo Robotic Mowers - Which One Is Best

Flymo has a long-standing reputation as one of the top lawn mower manufacturers in the world. While the company is most well-known for its hover mowers, it does make a whole host of other products, including robotic lawn mowers.

For the modern homeowner who doesn’t want to spend a lot of unnecessary hours tending to their lawn, a robot mower is a much needed and efficient device. If you’ve decided to give Flymo a try and invest in one of their excellent robotic mowers, then I have a few things for you to consider.

Choosing the best Flymo robotic mower for your garden will depend on what you’re looking for. What might work well for you might not be as efficient for me, so it’s worth pitting each model against each other and comparing them to your needs.

In this guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to know to help you choose the right Flymo robotic mower for you and your lawn.

Why Choose A Flymo Robotic Mower?

Flymo is designed for convenience and ease of use, and its range of robotic lawn mowers demonstrates this idea perfectly. What I really love about the Flymo robotic mowers is how easy they are to set up. They come with the compatible EasiLife app that can have you up and running in as little as three easy steps.

Not only that but your smartphone app allows you to control the lawn mower remotely so no matter where you are, you’re always on top of your mowing game. I’d have to write an entire guide on the Flymo EasiLife app if you wanted all of the detail, but in short here are just some of the things you’ll be able to do at the touch of a button:

  • Send the mower to its charging station
  • Live mowing status
  • Start or pause mowing
  • Change the mowing schedule or set a new one
  • Set a name for your product (great if you have more than one machine)
  • See detailed information about the product
  • Change your mower PIN
  • Turn sensors on and off

As you can see, one of the major reasons I would suggest investing in Flymo is this simple and easy use. But there are many other reasons that I think this is a worthy brand.

The EasiLife range of mowers have a selection of features that contribute to a healthier and better maintained lawn. What’s more, if you’re not in the mood to spend your Saturday afternoon traipsing up and down the lawn with a walk behind, then you’ll never have to worry again.

EasiLife Robotic Mower Range

The Flymo EasiLife range is safe for use around pets and children, thanks to its innovative sensors and you won’t even have to worry about emptying it, as these are mulching mowers. There’s really nothing to it other than setting up and getting on with the job.

Flymo Robotic Mowers – The Line Up!

I am super confident that all of the Flymo robotic mowers will live up to your expectations, but it’s worth keeping in mind that there are three different models to choose from (EasiLife, EasiLife GO and the older 1200R). You’ll need to think about exactly what it is you need from a robotic mower before making a final decision. But with that, here’s a quick rundown on what to expect from each model.

EasiLife Robotic Mower Range

EasiLife Robotic Mower Range

The EasiLife is an excellent option is for those that are more tech savvy, as configuration of the robotic mower is done using the EasiLife app. There is a wide selection of Flymo EasiLife robotic mowers to suit every conceivable lawn size. They vary from the Flymo EasiLife 200, 350, 500 and 800 – the main difference relates to the size of lawn the machine is programmed to mow each day, therefore if you have a smaller lawn I would recommend the EasiLife 200 since it is designed for lawns up to 200 square metres. Likewise for larger lawns you should consider the larger 350, 500 or 800 models depending on the size of your lawn.

For example, if your lawn is 800 metres squared then, as the name suggests, the EasiLife 800 is best suited for your lawn size. With models covering larger lawns you will also receive more boundary wire and pegs to ensure your entire lawn can be covered.

As an example, the Flymo EasiLife 800 is supplied with 200 metres of perimeter wire, compared to the EasiLife 200 which comes with just 100 metres of perimeter wire. So the size of your lawn is important.

1. Flymo EasiLife 200

1. Best Flymo - Flymo EasiLife 200

From this range of robotic mowers the EasiLife 200 model is the most popular. But just because it is the smallest in the range, that isn’t to say that it doesn’t have an impressive number of features just like its larger brothers.

You have the choice of controlling the EasiLife 200 through the compatible smartphone app or there is a LCD display and keypad on the machine itself so you can program directly from there, if you prefer.

This robot mower benefits from the Flymo LawnSense and FrostSense features meaning that it will adapt its cutting according to the lawn conditions and the weather. The mower returns to its charging station when the conditions are not suitable for mowing meaning your lawn is better protected.

For such a compact little mower, there certainly are plenty of ways to get the job done. Keep in mind that, like all of the other EasiLife mowers, this is a mulching mower and your lawn will benefit significantly of the nutrients and moisture provided. However, in addition it has features such as Second Area, Override, Spot Cut and Park, allowing you to adapt its function to your requirements and lifestyle.

Features And Benefits of EasiLife 200

  • 16cm cutting width for gardens up to 200m²
  • 18v battery
  • Random mowing pattern
  • Mulching mower
  • Option to place charger wherever you need around the edge of the lawn
  • Get started in three steps using the app or on-board control panel
  • LawnSense
  • FrostSense
  • PIN protected
  • 35% incline
  • Tilt and lift sensor
  • 58db quiet mowing

In summary the EasiLife range of robotic mowers are for those that require a more complex mower that will need to be configured either through the on-board LCD display or via the Flymo EasiLife app. If this is not something you relish then I have good news, as Flymo have developed their EasiLife GO range for people that like to keep it simple. EasiLife GO Robotic Mower Range

In the Flymo EasiLife GO range there are 3 robotic mowers to choose from – 150, 250 and 500. I hear you asking, what are the differences? Again, as the name suggests they are designed for different sized lawns. For example, the EasiLife GO 250 is designed for lawns up to 250 metres squared, the 500 for lawns up to 500 metres squared. All of the features are identical, even in terms of deck size, slope performance, sound etc, however the difference between them, like the EasiLife range, is the amount of time they are programmed to mow each day, the length of perimeter wire supplied and the number of pegs provided.

2. Flymo EasiLife GO 250

2. Flymo EasiLife GO 250

The bestselling Flymo EasiLife GO model is the 250, this robotic mower is perfect; as the name may suggest, for lawns up to 250m². It is user friendly, with minimal configuration and set up as it doesn’t have a screen, nor complex controls. It is simply plug in and go, same as the other models in the GO range.

The Flymo GO range is perfect for people who aren’t quite as tech savvy, as mentioned there’s no LCD screen, no complicated controls and no hassle, it’s simply a case of push and go. That said, there’s still the option to use the EasiLife app for easy control right from your smartphone.

Many of the other features are just the same as the EasiLife range including the intelligent guide wires that allow you to set a clear start and end point for the robotic mower. The GO range also come with LawnSense and FrostSense as well as the mulching function.

If you’re looking for something super quiet that’ll get the mowing done without disturbing you, then the EasiLife GO will be right up your street. It mows at just 58db so it isn’t going to cause a raucous. One thing that the GO does lack compared to the EasiLife is that it isn’t able to handle quite as steep inclines which isn’t good news if you have a relatively sloped garden.

Features And Benefits Flymo EasiLife GO 250

  • 16cm cutting width for gardens up to 250m²
  • 18v battery
  • Random mowing pattern
  • Mulching mower
  • Option to place charger wherever you need around the edge of the lawn
  • LawnSense

Flymo EasiLife vs Flymo EasiLife Go

OK, so that is the difference between the Flymo EasiLife range, how about the difference between the EasiLife and the EasiLife Go?

The EasiLife Go range is designed for those who do not want to faff around with complicated configurations either via the on-screen display or the EasiLife app. The EasiLife GO is designed as simple as possible to set up and configure. Simply install your perimeter wire and charging station and hit the “GO” button. The robotic mower will then do all the hard work for you.

One other slight difference is the EasiLife models can cut lawns on slopes up to 35% and the EasiLife Go models up to 25% gradient

In summary, I should point out that both the EasiLife and the EasiLife Go both come in a range of other sizes suitable for lawns between 150m² and 800m². It is purely for the purposes of this article that I have used the 200 and Go 250 respectively. It’s incredibly important to choose a robotic mower based on the size of your garden but whichever you choose, you’ll still get the full range of features from each of these mowers.

3. Flymo 1200R

3. Flymo 1200R

The 1200R comes in a single size covering lawns up to 400 metres squared. As I mentioned earlier, you must choose something that is compatible with the size of your lawn.

This is the older version of the Flymo robotic mower range and is not currently available to buy directly from Flymo. That said, you can still purchase the 1200R from other sellers so may or may not be worth considering. Of course, since it is an older model, it doesn’t have all of the same features as the EasiLife and EasiLife GO. For example, this one is not compatible with the smartphone app, so if that’s something that appeals to you, it could be a deal breaker. Personally, I would stay clear of this robotic mower as in my opinion it is moving towards the end of its life and is costly especially when considering the limited features you receive.

If you are still interested in this robotic mower, you’re still getting a mower that is incredibly easy to set up and operates smoothly and quietly. Just as intelligent as the other two robotic mowers from Flymo, the 1200R will return to its charging station when it needs a battery boost which is normally after around 60 minutes of mowing time. However, it is missing the FrostSense and Lawn Sense features, not an issue if you do not need them.

What the 1200R does have is some incredibly reliable sensors so you won’t need to worry about it bumping into anything it shouldn’t. It is worth noting that this is a feature seen on the EasiLife and the Easilife GO models too.

Features And Benefits Flymo 1200R

  • Obstacle sensors
  • Easy to use control panel
  • Quiet 58db mowing
  • 60 minutes mowing time
  • 18v battery
  • Random mowing pattern
  • Intelligent charging system
  • 25% incline

Which Is The Best Flymo Robotic Mower?

Which Is The Best Flymo Robotic Mower?

Having looked at the massive range of features on all 3 Flymo robotic mower categories, it’s easy to see that they’re all what one would consider ‘good.’ However, it really depends on what you need from your robotic lawn mower as to which one is right for you.

The EasiLife 200 is a great choice for the modern gardener who wants something that’s easy to set up and will do everything for you. It comes with a choice of control including an on-board LCD screen and smartphone app as well as a whole host of features for efficient mowing.

However, if you don’t like the idea of anything too techy, you might go for the EasiLife GO which doesn’t have such complex on board controls. Still, you won’t miss out on any of the other features, as everything else is largely the same.

I would personally not recommend the Flymo 1200R robotic mower, as it is now becoming obsolete and is no longer offered directly from Flymo online store. I should also point out that the cost is prohibitive for what you are getting.

In summary, all Flymo robotic models are equally as good and effective in terms of cutting your grass, mulching, reliability. What’s more your lawn will show the health results in a couple of months as mulching is by far the best way of cutting your lawn. Ensure the model you choose is capable of covering your entire lawn, not smaller, and has all the features you require. Pay attention to the set up and configuration required, as the EasiLife GO range is by far the quickest and easiest.

Conclusion

Flymo Robotic Mower - Conclusion

I’ve said many times about what a great brand Flymo is and even without my opinion, it’s one of the most well-known so you know you can trust it. But you’re probably used to working with Flymo’s range of hover mowers, since that’s what made the company rise to fame.

But it’s really expanded its horizons and now offers a range of robotic lawn mowers for the modern user. When you think about the many features that a robotic mower might possess, the Flymo range covers pretty much all of them. Yet, what I really love is that you aren’t going to pay over the odds for what is essentially, a very high-tech piece of equipment.

Don’t forget the amount of time and money you will save by letting your robotic mower do all the hard work while you relax in the garden with a glass of your favourite drink. Once you invest in one you will wonder how you ever managed to live without one before!
