Summary

The Flymo’s SimpliGlide 330 is an electric hover lawn mower with a 33cm cutting width and foldable handles for reduced storage. It has a 1700w motor, 4 cutting heights ranging from 10mm to 30mm and weighs just 7.3kg.
There are 3 varying SimpliGlide models in the range. The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is the big brother to that of the SimpliGlide 300 and offers the same 1700w motor but a larger 33cm deck. There is also a larger model, the Flymo SimpliGlide 360 with a larger 1800w motor and 36cm cutting width.
In terms of convenience and ease of use, there aren’t many lawn mowers that are as well equipped as the Flymo SimpliGlide 330. Now, I’ll be upfront from the beginning, this isn’t a mower that comes with a massive range of features. This is a simple lawn mower that is ideal for anyone looking for something hassle-free to just get the lawn cut.
The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 has a 33cm cutting deck and a powerful metal blade that is perfect for dense or thick grass. It is powered by a 1700 watt motor which gives it some real welly, even on sloped or uneven lawns.
The four cutting heights give you just enough for most domestic situations and with a low of 10mm, this is one of the best mowers if you want a really close cut. It’s beautifully easy to manoeuvre and when it comes to storage, the mower has some pretty handy features. I will be looking at these features and many more in my Flymo SimpliGlide 330 review, so let’s get cracking.
Main Features
- 33cm cutting width
- 4 cutting heights from 10mm to 30mm
- Foldable handle
- Lightweight at only 7.3kg
- Front wheels for easy transportation
- Dual lever operation
- 1700 watt motor
Power System And Performance

The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 runs on a powerful 1700 watt motor. This is perfect for the size of the machine and allows it to cut through much thicker grass. If you wanted to up the power slightly, you might opt for the Flymo SimpliGlide 360 which boasts a slightly more powerful 1800 watt motor. But this does also have a larger cutting width.
What’s more, this lawn mower comes with a long 10 metre power cable which is perfect if you don’t want to be restricted. Since the mower is designed for smaller gardens, you may even find that you don’t need to run an extension cable across the lawn, removing one safety hazard.
As I have mentioned, the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is great at cutting dense or thick grass thanks to its powerful motor. But it is also an excellent choice if you have a sloped garden. The mower is fitted with front wheels, when it comes to transporting the tool, these wheels are essential.
The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is a hover mower meaning that it floats on an air cushion as it mows. This means that it is much easier to move around. If you want something that’ll just glide around the garden, it’s an excellent choice.

Features In Detail
Deck and Blades
The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is fitted with a metal blade. This is far more beneficial than the plastic blades we see on some mowers. Metal is much more durable and will provide you with a much longer lifespan for the blade, not to mention that it’ll make light work of cutting.
This mower is designed for small to medium sized lawns and has a 33cm cutting width. However, since this is one in a range of three, there are other options if you have a smaller or larger lawn. The Flymo SimpliGlide 300 has a 30cm cutting deck so is ideal for very small areas. Alternatively, for those with a bigger garden, the Flymo SimpliGlide 360 gives you a 36cm cutting diameter and a little more power.
I know that this may sound confusing, so I have created a comparison table below to show the differences between the range of Flymo SimpliGlide hover mowers. This should hopefully assist with your choice.

Handles

One of the best features of the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is the dual controls. There is a push button to start the mower and the levers on either side can be operated together or separately to give you more flexible control.
The handles fold flat so that the mower is far easier to store. If you are very limited on space then the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 can also be hung on the wall, saving room in the garage or shed.
Height Adjustment
If you want a lawn mower that has a ridiculous number of cutting heights, the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 probably isn’t for you. It features just four cutting heights ranging between 10mm and 30mm. This is one of its downfalls, but it isn’t a deal breaker, that’s for sure.
The low 10mm cutting height is something that you don’t see very often so it’s a nice touch, especially if you want a very short cut. What’s more, if you have a small patch of grass that doesn’t change much with the seasons, buying a mower with fewer cutting heights like this will likely save you money.
The cutting heights must be changed by adding and removing spacers. This isn’t the most convenient way of doing things but it also doesn’t take a rocket science degree to figure out either. It’s just slightly more time consuming than using a mower that has central height adjustment.
This height adjustment process can be seen in the video below.
Mulching

If you like a mower that mulches then you’ll love the Flymo SimpliGlide 330. While it doesn’t feature the traditional mulching plug which can be inserted or taken out as you please, it does deliver the clippings back to the grass to give it a nutrient boost.
That said, the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 doesn’t include a grass collection box so if you prefer to collect your cuttings and dispose of them, it might not be right for you.
Flymo SimpliGlide 330 Practicalities
One of the things that stands out most about the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 in terms of practical use is how easy and simple it is to operate. There aren’t any complicated controls and it’s so beautifully easy to move around. All of this, and it’s incredibly lightweight as well.
Moreover, this is an extremely affordable little lawnmower so if you don’t want to break the bank, it’s definitely an option worth considering.

The mower is lightweight and easy to use. While it only has four cutting heights and no grass collection box, this doesn’t matter if you want something for everyday domestic use.

The Flymo SimpliGlide 330 tends to suck cut grass into its orange cowling through the rear vertical air slots. The grass gets trapped inside the cowling and gradually builds up over time, unable to escape. Is there a way to easily remove the orange cowling for periodic removal of the trapped, dried grass?
Apart from that, the Flymo SimpliGlide 330 is an excellent electric lawnmower.
Hi John, pleased to hear that you are happy with this mower. I don’t think there is an easy way as the cowling is not designed to be removed by the operator. You could try contacting Flymo support, but I think they will advise against it, as it will invalidate any warranty. Thanks
