If you’re looking for an affordable and reliable corded lawn mower then look no further than the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower. I’ve been testing this mower and for the price, there’s not much I can complain about.
While the plastic deck does mean this model is less durable than some others, it’s designed for day to day residential use so, as long as you use it how it’s intended then I highly doubt you’ll have any durability issues.
The GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower has a range of features that make it a brilliant first lawn mower. Not only is it really easy to maintain but it’s got everything you need and more including a rear roller and a mulching plug. At first glance, this might look like a very simple tool but I assure you that there’s much more to it than meets the eye.
In my GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower review, I’m going to be looking at the good and the bad points of this product to help you decide whether it’s the right option for your garden.
- 38 cm cutting deck
- 40 litre grass box
- 5 cutting heights
- Lightweight design
- 10m power cord
- Folding handle
- Mulching mode
- Rear roller for stripes
- 2 year warranty
Before I get into the nitty gritty of the power of the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower, I have to make an important point. If you’re moving over from petrol then this machine probably isn’t going to give you the power that you’re used to.
That said, for a smaller electric model, 1600w is more than satisfactory enough to tackle a small to medium sized garden.
I also really like some of the other features in terms of power that just make the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower a cut above the rest. For example, the cord is supported with a cable support hook that will stop the wire from pulling, therefore improving the longevity of the product.
What’s more, getting started is super easy compared to petrol thanks to the electric push button start.
The GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is fitted with a 10m power cable which is pretty standard. In most cases, where you have an outdoor plug, this should be more than enough for the intended lawn size. However, if not, it’s more than simple enough to hook up an extension lead.

To give you a visual representation of this GardenTek Corded Lawn Mower, see the video below. Please note that this the smaller 33cm mower with only 3 manual height adjustments.
I read some reviews of people stating that they used the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower to clear areas of very unkempt lawn. In those same reviews, the users pointed out that this took some time but the mower was more than capable of getting the job done.
Generally speaking, however, the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is designed to be a daily lawn maintenance tool and it does this very well. The cut is pretty impressive and uniform but what I really liked was how easily manoeuvrable the mower was. This is largely down to how lightweight it is but I’ll talk more about that later on.
I should also make a point of saying that this model is identical to the Hyundai HYM3800E (they’re made by the same people). So, if you liked that model and how it performs then you’ll love the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower, especially since it’s got a slightly lower price tag as well!
Deck and Blade
The deck of the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is made from polypropylene which is totally acceptable for a general maintenance mower. However, if you’re too rough with it, then this material could be prone to cracking so that’s something to keep in mind particularly if you have a garden that has uneven or rocky terrain.
The blade is made from steel which is the case in most lawn mowers so you’ve got the peace of mind that it’ll stay sharp and reliable.
When I tell you that the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower has five height settings, you might think that this doesn’t sound like a lot. It’s true that some of the more expensive mowers have up to seven cutting heights but it’s versatility that I look for.
The lowest height setting is just 20 mm so that’s ideal if you’re looking for a very short, manicured lawn. At the other end of the scale, there is a 70 mm option which is higher than a lot of models and gives you the chance to work with much longer grass without affecting its health.
You can easily switch between cutting heights using the lever located on the front wheel so there’s no messing about.
The GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is designed for small to medium sized gardens measuring up to 225m². It comes with a 38 cm cutting deck which is standard for this type of mower and allows you to cover your lawn in a much quicker time.
However, if your lawn is any larger than the recommended size, you’ll find that you have to make too many passes and this will increase the time it takes to get the job done. In this case, I’d recommend something 40-42 cm or more.
The GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower comes with a 40 litre grass box. This is about average for a mower of this size although having something slightly larger would have been beneficial. That said, it’s by no means something that would put me off buying the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower.
I also really like that the grass box is made with a plastic top and a fabric body. This gives you many benefits including improved airflow, ease of storage and stability.
It’s not all that common to see a rear roller on a cheap corded lawn mower so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that you do get one with the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower.
Not only will a roller allow you to create that beautiful striped effect on your lawn but it also adds stability when you’re moving along the edges of the lawn.
The GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is a pretty simple machine in terms of safety features but it does have what I would consider to be one of the most important.
This is an accidental start prevention button which is vital for stopping the mower from starting up unintentionally. I find this a useful feature in all cases but if you have children then it’s even more important as it’ll prevent any nasty accidents.
Again, for the price of the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower, I was elated to find that it also comes with a mulching plug. You can remove the grass box and fit the plug into the back of the mower for a more eco-friendly mowing option.
This essentially works by the grass being circulated around the deck and chopped into fine pieces. These are then deposited back onto the lawn and act as a natural fertiliser.
One of the major selling points of the GardenTek 15”/38 cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower is that it’s lightweight. It weighs just 12.5 kg so it’s really easy to push around. Moving it around the garden requires very little effort so it’s a great choice for people who have found that they struggle with larger mowers.
What’s more, if you’ve been used to using a petrol lawnmower, the lower weight will be very noticeable. In addition to this, you’ll also benefit from having a low maintenance machine; no oil changes, no fuel changes, no general maintenance. This is just a very easy mower to use and ideal for beginners.
When you buy the GardenTek 15”/38cm corded electric 1600w lawn mower, it comes with a 2 year warranty (1 year if you’re purchasing for commercial use). This is what you’d usually get with this type of equipment but it’s still generous and gives you good peace of mind.
