LawnMaster is, without a doubt, one of the best mower brands out there for affordability, performance and features provided. However, when it comes to hover mowers, one would instantly turn to Flymo, but LawnMaster has brought out its LawnMaster hover mower collect 36cm 1800w to rival the original hover brand and I’ve been quite impressed with what I’ve seen.
This model is ideal for medium sized gardens with its 36cm cutting capacity. It’s also got a degree of versatility for homeowners who want some options when maintaining their lawn. This includes a mulching mode, grass collection as well as four cutting heights.
There’s a lot to cover, so in this review, I’ll be going over the finer details and helping you to work out if this is the right piece of equipment for your garden.

Power System
The LawnMaster Hover Mower Collect 36cm runs on an 1800 watt motor, which is more than sufficient for a mower of this size. It’ll allow you to get the job done quickly and efficiently plus, electric motors are beautifully easy to maintain.
What’s more, the LawnMaster hover mower is kitted out with T-Drive which essentially alters the power according to the cutting conditions. This makes it easier to cut in damp, rugged or otherwise challenging conditions as the power is boosted. On the other hand, when it’s smooth sailing, you’ll conserve energy as the power is turned down.
I love that this LawnMaster hover mower comes with a 15-metre power cable. Most electric hover mowers have a standard 10 metre cord, so this gives you that little extra reach and saves you from having to get out the extension cable. Having said that on my large 500m² lawn, I did need an extension cable to reach all areas of the lawn.

Performance
The LawnMaster 1800w delivers a neat cut and owing to how it floats on a cushion of air, you’ll find it incredibly easy to manoeuvre around your lawn as demonstrated in my video review. It’s ideal for sloped gardens or those where there are a lot of twists and turns as with all hover mower manoeuvrability is easy. I hope you can see from my video that the cut was incredibly sharp, consistent and uniform regardless of the direction the mower was used.

Deck & Blade
LawnMaster advertises this hover mower 36cm 1800w as being suitable for medium to large lawns, but I have to disagree. I wouldn’t usually use a 36cm mower for a large lawn due to the power cord, so I’d say that this would not be practical. However, for medium lawns, it’ll be a great addition to your tool shed.
Also keep in mind that there are two smaller versions of this LawnMaster hover mower 36cm. There’s a non-collect hover version with a 32cm cutting deck and a 1500 watt motor. But you can also get a similar 33cm 1500w model as a collect mower, so you do have options.
What really caught my attention was the reversible sharp blade. It has been sharpened on both sides so you can flip it and essentially get a much longer service life out of it. When you consider that this is already a very affordable piece of equipment, that makes it all the more attractive.
Handles
Whether you are left or right-handed, you’ll be able to use this LawnMaster hover mower with ease thanks to the dual levers on the handle. It’s also a pleasure to push around thanks to comfortable foam covered handles and when you’re done, everything folds down making it much more compact for storage.
Height Adjustment
If there is one thing that I feel lets the LawnMaster hover mower 36cm 1800w down, it’s the height adjustment features. You’ve got a choice of four heights between 12mm and 33mm. This is not the most versatile I’ve ever seen, but it is normal for a hover mower. In fact, the Flymo range only goes up to 30mm, so you do get a little more height from this LawnMaster. Four height adjustments again are normal for hover mowers.
But then you also must consider that the height adjustment isn’t controlled by the simple flick of a lever like many modern mowers. Instead, you are supplied with spacers which can be inserted and removed to alter the height. It’s not the most complex process in the world, as I demonstrate in my video review, but it’s certainly a lot more of a pain than just using a central lever. Having said that, this is normal and standard with all hover mowers on the market, as by design the hover mower makes a little contact with the lawn.
Grass Collection Box
The LawnMaster hover mower comes with a 26 litre grass box. Honestly, this is a good size especially when you compare to the range of Flymo hover models at 15 and 20 litres. The fact that this is an integrated collection box, means that it is never going to compete with the size you are going to get with a non-hover mower that has an external grass collection box.
On the plus side, this is a translucent box so you will easily be able to see when it needs emptying which is always handy.

Mulching
One thing that I really like about this LawnMaster hover mower is that it comes with a mulching option. This just makes it that little more versatile and gives you the option to feed your lawn using the grass clippings as a more organic and natural fertiliser.
It works using airflow within the cutting deck that is used to circulate the clippings, allowing them to make repeated contact with the blade which finely chops them up. They’re then delivered back to the ground as a fertiliser. In my video review I demonstrate both the cut & collect and the mulching options of this mower. I think you will see that the mulching option worked exceptionally well as there was no large clumps of grass left on the lawn.

As standard with all electric lawn mowers, there is also an Operator Presence Lever and safety button.

Practicalities
If you’re looking for a lightweight mower, then that’s exactly what you’ll get with this hover LawnMaster. It’s ideal for people who don’t have the strength, or simply don’t want to lug around a huge petrol lawn mower.

Compared with other hover mowers this LawnMaster hover mower really does come out on top in terms of features, power, build quality, performance and price. If you have decided on a hover mower and want something that offers versatility and user friendliness that will help you maintain your lawn without a fuss, then this LawnMaster hover mower collect 36cm 1800w really is worth considering.
It’s great for medium spaces, but would also do well in a slightly smaller garden. If your lawn has any sort of curve, slope or other unevenness then the LawnMaster hover mower collect 36cm 1800w is an excellent option thanks to its T-Drive and ease of manoeuvrability. Having the option to swich between cut & collect and mulching mode is a really useful and practical touch. Conclusion
Affordable, practical and relatively easy to use, the LawnMaster hover mower collect 36cm 1800w is the ideal everyday lawn mower for the homeowner who doesn’t want to mess around. OK, there are a few limitations i.e. the restriction of the power cable, using spacers to adjust the cutting height, but they’re by no means deal breakers and are common with all electric hover mowers.
