Summary
If you have already decided that a robotic mower is the best solution for you and your huge garden, you fully understand the benefits of a robotic mower and how they work but are still not sure what is the best make and model to purchase, below I have included my best selection to help you out.

If you have a lawn that is over 1,500m² in size, then you’ll want to pay attention to this list, here I will be sharing with you the best models suitable for this type of garden. Thanks to the fine design, latest technology and manufacturing of these biggest players in the market, these mowers are efficient, reliable and have various useful features and functions which make lawn care not only super easy but also relaxing – which is why I rate them so highly!
Now I understand that not all huge gardens are the same, in most cases they’ll be different in terms of shape and slope, which means not all robotic mowers are compatible with all types of lawns. Not only that but not all home owners will have the same requirements, so while some want nothing to do with lawn care, and want to spend as little time on the lawn as possible, others just want to reduce the workload they’re required to do, possibly because of a busy job or injury which makes the job more difficult. This all affects the type of robotic mower they would choose, which is why I am recommending these different models – instead of just one.
Also, to make it clear which model is best for you below each title I will explain which type of individual the mower is best suited to and why. If you want to see a full review with the main features, power system, mowing features, pros / cons, functions, cost and optional extras click on the ” Full Review” button.
Hopefully this should clear up any questions you have and will help you decide how to pick the perfect robotic mower. If you have any questions please feel free to use the comments box at the bottom of this review and I will do my best to help you out.
Best Robotic Mowers For Huge Sized Gardens
- Husqvarna 450X
- Ambrogio L300 Elite R
- Ambrogio L30 Elite Plus
Best Robotic Mowers For Huge Sized Gardens (over 1,500m²)
1. Husqvarna 450X
Why is this my number 1 pick?

Thanks to its accurate navigation system, the 450X will hardly ever need your assistance while it is out mowing. The model is not only guided by on-board sensors and its boundary wire, it also has various other components (GPS-assisted navigation, remote object detection and triple guide wires primarily) which improve its understanding of the shape of your lawn and make it more aware of the obstacles that are within it. These therefore allow the 450X to roam around your garden much more effectively than anyone else, and also give you much fewer problems to deal with.
But these features don’t only make for easier lawn care on your part, but also make for much better lawn coverage. A number of cheaper end models would struggle reaching and navigating out of difficult and tight spaces, some might not even bother trying to cut the grass here at all so they’d leave you to do it yourself.
For those that don’t want to do any lawn work at all, I would recommend the 450X model to them. I imagine they’ll have some other things they’d much rather be doing instead of lawn work, which makes the 450X’s weather timer, mowing schedule, mobile app and lack of assistance just what they need. Everything can be set up and managed using their phone and if anything needs changed due to the weather conditions the mower can do this for itself.
With the 450X you don’t even need to be home to have complete control of your lawn.
This mower’s ideal for those that:

- your garden is bumpy and sloped up to 45%.

- you don’t mind doing some trimming every now and then.
- you want a mower with many features and functions (rain sensor, object sensors etc).
- want to control the mower using a smart phone app.
2. Ambrogio L300 Elite R

This mower’s ideal for those that:
- have a lawn around 3500m²+.
- want a Multi-zone function fur multi-zone capability.

3. Ambrogio L30 Elite Plus
This mower’s ideal for those that:
- have a lawn no bigger than 1600m².
- have a lawn which is quite sloped (45%).
- have a garden which is complex in shape making it tough to mow.
- want a robust and tough mower to last longer than the rest.

CONCLUSION
Because these robotic mowers are designed to cut such large areas of lawn, they are not only big in size but also big in price.
If you lawn is slightly smaller up to 1,600m² you may want to consider my top selection of robotic mowers for large lawns (0.39 acre). Below I have included a link to this review where again you will be able to find out more about their performance, suitability and cost. Fur sure they are cheaper but just as effective on smaller lawns.

Hi Mark
I have a large garden (approx 1.5 acres) with a complex shaped lawn including paths approx 2m wide. Do you offer a consultancy service and do you offer a service to install the guide wires? Obviously both post lock down.
Also you don’t appear to mention kress robots anywhere and they appear to be pretty top of the range so interested to hear your thoughts.
Many thanks
Toby
Hi Toby, no sorry I do not offer any installation service. You could try talking to AutoLawn who would be happy to advise you, but may try to steer you towards Husquarna.
Their telephone number can be found on the link below – https://www.autolawn.co.uk/who-we-are
Thanks
Mark
Mark, what actually happens if the Robomow encounters a bit of slope that’s steeper than the 36% it’s rated for? I’m wondering if it won’t even try it, or slips in place, just drains the battery faster or what! Thanks for any light you can shed.
Hello,
Awesome article on the best robotic lawn mowers. This is definitely a new territory for me.
It seems very interesting and I think you are doing a fantastic job on your website. I will definitely be a returning reader.
Since I would be a beginner. What would you suggest as a great beginner robotic mower.
Thanks,
Shawn
Good question Shawn but I can’t really answer it. You see the mower you would choose really depends on what your garden is like, things like size, complexity, slope etc. need to be considered before making a choice.
If you tell me what your lawn is like then I’ll happily recommend a model for you!
Hi Mark,
I love gardening! However, being 37 and suffering from chronic back pain, I would not mind using one of these robotic lawn mowers.
I did not even know they existed! Amazing to see how technology would help someone like me from hurting my back further.
Are they quite reasonable in price Mark?
Regards,
Philip
It depends on the size of garden you have Philip, as lawns get bigger so does the price of the lawn mower. Considering what they offer I think they are but if you want to have a look at prices then I suggest you check out some of my reviews – https://easylawnmowing.co.uk/. They’re divided up according to lawn size, so you can find ones which suit you best, and then click through to their sales page on Amazon. It’s a matter of opinion but I think having a look at their prices will help
Do these robotic mowers require you to burry some sort of perimeter wire kind of like those invisible dog fences in order to keep it within your property boundaries? If so, is that the kind of thing a homeowner can do on their own? Last question, I promise. If the unit is running low on power before it finishes, will it recharge itself and then come out to finish the job?
Yep you’re spot on Neil, the perimeter wire is buried underground by the owner and will keep the mower within its boundaries, and if it does run low on power then it will recharge itself using its charging station. It’s completely independent so you don’t have to do anything!
