If you have a very large garden, you are going to need a lawn mower that can keep up with the demands of this. The Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T would make a great addition to your garden tools as it has an incredible amount of power, is zero-turn making it manoeuvrable, versatile and easy to use.
It has an outstanding engine that outperforms some of the higher-end models and just keeps on going, making this the perfect mower for lawns of up to 1400m². With a range of mowing options and a fantastic number of cutting heights, you are getting everything in one with this great piece of garden equipment.
While this may be considered more of a budget-friendly lawn mower, that certainly doesn’t mean that it isn’t effective. In fact, this is one of the most reliable and efficient lower-priced mowers that I have come across. But what about the zero-turn feature? Does this, and the other features on this Einhell, make this a mower that should be top of your shopping list?
In this Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T review, I’m going to walk you through all of its features and functions to demonstrate what a nifty and innovative machine this is and any limitations you should be aware of.
- 46cm cutting width.
- 8 cutting heights between 30mm – 80mm
- 4-in-1 mowing functions
- Zero-turn front wheel
- Rear-wheel drive that can be disengaged
- Larger rear wheels
- Comfortable handle
- 70-litre grass bag
For a mower that can cut up to 1400 square metres, you would be expecting an extremely powerful motor, and you certainly won’t be disappointed; I know I wasn’t.
The engine on this bad boy is a 139cc 4-stroke engine that harbours an intense level of power. With a high torque, it turns at almost 3000rpm making it ideal for cutting thicker or overgrown grass. You could even tackle wet grass without an issue.
There is a 1-litre fuel tank on the Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T and the engine is super-easy to start. Just one pull of the cord and you’re on the way. Although, it will need priming if it is cold, so do keep this in mind.
The engine features an air-cooling system which will prevent overheating and make it much safer to use.
This mower is a rear wheel drive that can be disengaged where required.
One of the best things about this Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T lawn mower is that it has the ability to cover a large area, but this means that it needs to be able to do this effortlessly. The good news is that it has a wealth of features that make this a very well-performing machine.
To begin with, it features a single rotating front wheel that gives you greater manoeuvrability and allows this mower to zero-turn on its own footprint. Furthermore, if you don’t want this feature, the front wheel can be locked using a control on the handlebars. This will give you a more comfortable mowing experience, so your options are anything but limited. Why would you want to lock the front wheel? Well, zero-turn mowers do have many advantages, however they do not perform well on steep slopes. You will find the rotating front wheel will always be trying to turn down the hill if you are cutting across. The ability to lock the front wheel alleviates this issue, but is still by no means as stable on slopes compared to a 4 wheeled petrol mower.
It boasts the option to disengage the rear-wheel drive and this will further increase how easy it is to move. Since this is a push petrol mower, these functions are a welcome addition.
The Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T gives a superbly clean cut, will make light work of even the toughest grass and is suitable for use on all types of terrain. In short, there isn’t a lot that the Einhell can’t do.
Blade and Deck
One of the first things that caught my eye about this mower was the durability and build-quality of the powder coated steel deck. It is made from high-quality materials that give it an incredibly long life. This is even more impressive when you consider the very wallet-friendly price.
The Einhell has a cutting width of 46cm. This is very generous and one of the main reasons that this mower is so adept at tackling larger lawns.
While performance and cutting ability are two very important factors to consider when purchasing a mower, ease of use and comfort are also imperative.
Thankfully, the designers of this mower have left nothing out and the handles come with a soft foam padding to prevent calluses and discomfort while mowing.
What’s more, the levers and controls are all within easy reach, so using the mower certainly won’t be a strain.
This Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T is a petrol mower that is able to tackle longer grass and lawns that are much denser. As a result of this, additional height options are almost certainly required and this is something else that has not been omitted during the design process.
The Einhell is fitted with a central height adjustment lever which makes switching between heights pretty much effortless. You have a choice of eight cutting heights ranging between 30mm and 80mm, so you’re getting a very good level of versatility.
Regardless of how you want to cut your lawn, the Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T has got you covered. It boasts a 4-in-1 mowing system with the option to collect in the hefty grass collection bag, rear discharge, side discharge and mulching.
If you’re looking for something diverse then this is a model well worth considering for its cutting options alone.
The benefits of mulching go far beyond not having to repeatedly empty the grass collection box. As the grass is cut, the clippings will circulate around the deck until they are chopped up into much finer particles. They are then delivered back to the lawn giving it nutrients to grow even thicker, greener and more healthy.

Grass Collection Box
If you’d rather collect your grass clippings and dispose of them with the garden waste, then a large grass box is essential. And you aren’t going to get much larger than this!
The Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T comes with a massive 70-litre grass box that will vastly limit the number of times you need to stop and empty. Even better is that the grass bag is made from durable materials making it heavy-duty and long-lasting.
Practically speaking, there is a lot to get excited about with the Einhell GC-PM 46 S HW-T petrol mower. One of the most obvious things is that it will make cutting larger gardens a breeze thanks to its self-propelled drive, incredible power and performance, mulching option, zero-turn manoeuvrability and don’t forget the huge 70 litre grass box!
The zero-turn does work well, not only saving you time, but also making it easy to manoeuvre at the end of each pass, around flower beds and other obstacles on the lawn. Just make sure this is a feature you are going to use. If you are simply going to permanently lock off the front rotating wheel, then you would be better with a 4 wheeled mower as they will provide better stability on steeper slopes.
Furthermore, everything is easy to control. Getting started is a breeze, the handles attach easily right out of the box and there is no intricate construction required. Einhell has made this a mower that even a novice can use, but that doesn’t compromise on its performance.
The powder coated steel deck is easy to clean with a brush, particularly if the grass is dry, however, it may have been nice to have seen a wash port which is always a nice touch. However, the lack of one certainly isn’t a deal-breaker.
