Cutting Diameter and Features
The Hyundai HYM480SPR offers excellent 2-in-1 cutting features – cut and collect + rear discharge.
- Cut and collect – grass is cut and collected in the rear collection box.
- Rear discharge – grass is cut and discharged from the rear of the mower.
There is a rear discharge chute whereby the grass clippings are blown out of the back of the mower onto your lawn, where they can be left to break down naturally. Remember when using the rear discharge, make sure you are not cutting grass that is too long, otherwise you will be left with lines/bales of grass that are not ideal for the lawn’s condition. Rear discharge works well on shorter grass and if you ensure you stick to the 1/3 rule (only cut 1/3 from the height of your grass).

Height Adjustment
There is a convenient single-lever central height adjuster, which enables the user to set 5 different cutting heights between 25mm and 75mm, that cleverly allows this mower to be set in accordance with the height and condition of the grass you are cutting.

Self-Propelled Drive
This Hyundai HYM480SPR is self propelled from the rear roller and is controlled from the mounted handle control lever. The OPC (Operator Presence Control) technology ensures that the mower will not run off if the handle is let go. The self propelled drive operates at a continuous speed level of 3000 rpm over various lawn levels and the rear roller drive assists when mowing up/down slopes and uneven areas of your lawn. Its large full width roller has been designed for easier manoeuvring around the lawn particularly around tight corners and flower beds. Practicalities
The Hyundai HYM480SPR is provided with excellent 2-in-1 cutting features you can choose from cut and collect or side discharge. Furthermore, you are able to attach a hose connector to the deck for easy cleaning, fold the soft grip handle for easy storage and transport. This mower also has good quality ball bearing large front wheels for ease of manoeuvrability. The steel deck is hard-wearing and durable, and conveniently Hyundai have added an easy to remove maintenance cover to allow access to the enclosed drive belt.
As mentioned above a great feature of this Hyundai HYM480SPR is the ability to clean the deck underneath by connecting it to a garden hose whilst running the machine, again a feature that will save time, keeps the mower running effectively whilst prolonging its life – not just a gimmick.
For easy storage of this Hyundai HYM480SPR the soft grip handles can be folded forward and downwards over the lawn mower. This reduces storage space and makes transportation easier.
It can’t all be good! Well, this is a fantastic petrol mower, however it does lack the ability to mulch the grass cuttings as some other Hyundai mowers can. I believe this is deliberate from Hyundai as this mower is for those that want a lawn that is cut short and looks great, not just a mower that can plough through a lawn that is not maintained or cut more regularly. Remember this mower has a low cutting height option of just 25mm and a rear roller for a stripy lawn, so I don’t think the ability to mulch really fits well with the type of owner the Hyundai HYM480SPR is intended for.
