Summary
The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 is 25cm electric hover lawn mower with a powerful 1400 watt motor, rotary metal blade, 4 height adjustments, 10 metre cable and foldable handles making it very easy to manoeuvre, store and provides a professional cut from heights between 11mm to 31mm.
Flymo have been renowned for producing hover mowers over the years and this Flymo Turbo Lite 250 is quite simply the lightest and easiest to operate hover mower you can purchase here in the UK.
This mower is the best selling hover Flymo, and there is a good reason. The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 has no fancy features or clever gimmicks, and that’s its beauty. A simple lightweight mower that will float around the lawn making it quick and easy to get your lawn cut with no fuss or stress.
With a deck size of just 25cm means that this mower is deigned for smaller lawns or medium lawns with narrow strips. Don’t think just because the Flymo Turbo Lite 250 is small that it is not powerful, oh no, this mower has a very respectable 1400w motor, providing the same power as much larger mowers.
Is it well built? Well, it doesn’t have to be really. Flymo have chosen to make a good compromise between weight and durability. Whilst this might not be the toughest lawn mower on the market it is light and nimble enough to hover everywhere with little effort. It is a pleasure to operate. Obviously, more durable construction would be heavier and harder to move around. It is a great balance.
Remember, this mower has no grass collection box and there is no option to fit one. If you mow regularly this is not a major issue but otherwise, you might need to rake up a bit. The benefit of cutting more frequently is that the clippings will improve the condition of the lawn and return nutrients to the soil. This will lead to a healthier and more water-wise lawn.
If you feel this mower has a deck size that is too small, then don’t worry, Flymo have you covered. There are three models in the Flymo Turbo Lite range and include the Turbo Lite 250 (this review) and the Turbo Lite 260. Both models are identical, apart from the deck size shown below.
- Turbo Lite 250 – 25cm Deck Size – 1400W

Pros and Cons
Roller (Stripes)
The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 is a hover mower, and therefore does NOT have a rear roller for a striped lawn appearance.
You may notice a small roller on the rear of the mower, this roller is to assist with transportation and means that the mower can be rolled along to where you need it.
Safety Features
The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 comes with a central starter button that must be pressed in order to start this mower, this is standard across the Turbo Lite range.
Mulching
The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 does not have the ability to mulch the lawn even though it doesn’t have a grass collection bag.
To be classed as a mulching lawn mower, the grass cuttings should be continuously circulated around the mower’s deck cutting the clippings into tiny pieces.

Conclusion
The Flymo Turbo Lite 250 is a great all round mower that is designed for the maintenance of small sized lawns.
The smaller 25cm deck size along with the 1400W motor make this mower ideal for small lawns and really does make cutting the lawn a breeze. This mower is extremely light at only 5kg, combine this with the Flymo air cushion and the fact that there is no grass box and you really can mow your lawn very quickly and will tackle the most neglected lawn without any challenges.
This mower will easily hang on a bracket on your shed or garage wall due to it being so lightweight and compact. The 10 metre cable is adequate for a smaller lawn and is standard for a mower of this size.
What I like about this mower is the 4 different cutting heights, however you will need to add or remove spacers to the fan to adjust the height – see the video below on how to adjust the Flymo’s height.
Is the Flymo Turbo Lite 250 good value for money? Well yes of course it is, at around £50 you simply can’t go wrong with this lawn mower. The fact that this is a non collect mower with no grass box may put some people off, but if you simply want a mower that will mow your lawn quickly and easily then this may well be the mower for you.
Remember, if the 25cm deck size is a little small for your lawn then you may want to consider the slightly larger Flymo Turbo Lite 260, deck size of 26cm.
All in all this is a fantastic mower designed to be simple, lightweight and easy to operate. It will get the job done quickly with little effort – nothing more nothing less.

This is the worst designed flymo. Old version floated and was easy to store.. This one is a nightmare to use – I thuink the added wheel is a disaster – it is really hard work pushing on uneven ground.
It is NOT easy to hang on the wall – it is impossible to fold it unless you have huge upper arm strength
Hi Sarah, thanks so much for sharing your experience of this mower. Flymo have released a new model this year, which I think is an improvement over the Turbo Lite.
